Internet slams Donald Trump for holding Nevada rally despite 11 sent to hospital due to Arizona heat
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Even 113-degree weather does not deter Donald Trump from considering the well-being of his supporters who visit him.
The Trump campaign proceeded with a Las Vegas rally on Sunday, June 9, despite the record-high temperatures affecting the US Southwest.
Donald Trump's campaign spends extra helping attendees cope with the heat
Trump was scheduled to deliver a speech around noon, coinciding with the anticipated peak temperature of 100 degrees, as reported by the Daily Beast.
This event follows just days after 11 individuals were hospitalized for heat exhaustion at a Phoenix town hall, where Trump denounced his recent conviction in the New York hush-money trial and called for an appellate court to reverse the decision.
At the Nevada rally, the US Secret Service allowed attendees to bring personal water bottles and umbrellas to deal with the intense heat.
The Trump campaign spent money on extra emergency medical services at the venue, an exposed park, and intended to distribute misting fans and water bottles. They also announced plans to set up cooling tents.
Trump rally coincides with launch of 'Latino Americans for Trump' initiative
This rally marks Trump's third in Nevada this year—a state he has lost twice—and his second public appearance since his conviction on 34 charges in New York.
A recent CBS News/YouGov poll showed Trump and President Joe Biden in a tight race in battleground states, including Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
CNN reported that Trump's visit to Las Vegas on Sunday would coincide with the launch of a new "Latino Americans for Trump" initiative, as Republicans aim to leverage Biden's challenges with these voters.
Politico noted that the Democratic National Committee intended to reveal a billboard advertisement near Trump's rally, labeling him a "convicted white-collar criminal."
Internet demands 'Trump should pay medical cost'
As soon as the news went viral on Facebook, users started sharing their reactions. A user wrote, "He doesn’t care if they are falling over!"
Another user added, "Because Trump has demonstrated time and again that he couldn't care less about the health or safety of his MAGA followers..."
A third commentator wrote, "Anyone who goes & stands out in the desert heat is insane & should be hospitalized for mental illness."
"Trump is a hellscape for our country . he's a sick, sick individual," one said.
A person stated, "Trump should pay medical costs for the idiots who attend!!"
