PHOENIX, ARIZONA: The 2024 presidential race is not the only thing heating up; the desert in June is also sizzling.

Attendees queuing for former President Donald Trump's Thursday town hall, hosted by Turning Point Action, braved temperatures soaring to 102 degrees and above, resulting in some collapsing and being rushed to the hospital.

The day's peak temperature is anticipated to hit 110 degrees. Several attendees succumbed to the heat outside the venue and were taken away by first responders, as reported by ABC 15 Arizona.

11 people hospitalized due to excessive heat

According to 12News, eleven individuals have been hospitalized. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the Phoenix metropolitan area, which will remain in effect until Friday, June 7 night.

“Overexposure can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion to develop and, without intervention, can lead to heat stroke,” the warning states.

The event's doors opened at 10 am, yet some attendees began lining up early to secure good seats for the former president's appearance. The rally took place in the spacious indoor Dream City Church in north Phoenix.

According to county records, Maricopa County experienced 645 heat-related deaths in 2023.

The event was expected to attract over 3,000 attendees, marking Trump's first public appearance since his conviction in the Stormy Daniels hush-money trial in Manhattan the previous week.

Donald Trump slammed for conducting event

As soon as the news went viral on social media, users started reacting to it. A user wrote, "11 people in total so far. Sorry, not sorry. This guy is not worth standing outside for in this heat."

Another user added, "It's 107 in Phoenix now. The trump hotties are waiting outside in the heat while he primps his wig and makeup in the air conditioned church."

The third commentator wrote, "Trump doesn't care about them he just wants their money."

"That's one way to decrease Trump's base. He should do all his rallies in the scorching heat," a person remarked.

One stated, "He doesn’t care about them. Remember his super spreader events during Covid? This is no different. Unfortunately, they’ll still send him money and vote for him. It’s a cult, for sure."
