MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA: The battle to become the Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America has intensified with former allies turning against each other.

Ahead of the important GOP primary in South Carolina on February 24, the Palmetto state Rep. Nancy Mace launched a verbal attack on Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley.

Previously, Haley aided Mace during her 2022 Republican primary challenge against a candidate supported by Trump.

However, Mace did not return the favor as she endorsed the Republican candidate Donald Trump before the New Hampshire primary.

What did Nancy Mace say about Nikki Haley?

Nancy Mace attacked the former South Carolina governor on Friday, February 2, saying that Haley is 'China's favorite governor'.

Continuing on her diss on Haley, Mace said, “And in fact, if she had her way, South Carolina would be manufacturing spy balloons right here in our state," per Daily Mail.

In South Carolina, Haley is trailing by 26 points in comparison to Trump. Mace further attacked Haley’s history of serving as an accountant in the White House during her fiery rant.

Mace said, “Gov Haley started out as an accountant. She went from doing people's taxes to raising people's taxes.”

Referring to the former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Mace continued, “The last time a tax-hiking presidential candidate walked around South Carolina in high heels it was Hillary Clinton - not sure how that turned out very well at all.”

Nikki Haley and Nancy Mace’s history

Mace got elected as a representative in South Carolina after she defeated Democratic Rep. Joe Cunningham in 2020. She got on Trump’s bad side after she voted to certify President Biden’s election win in 2020 and criticized Trump for the January 6 Capitol attack.

In 2022, Trump, in turn, supported her primary challenger Katie Arrington in the Congressional election. However, Haley emerged as an ally to Mace during the same and helped her retain her seat.

Mace praised Haley during that time and said, “She is a rockstar,” before adding, “She's become a good friend, a good mentor, she's a great leader.”

However, just a day before the New Hampshire primary, Mace did a U-turn and took to her X account to endorse Donald Trump.

She wrote on X, “I don't see eye to eye perfectly with any candidate. And until now I've stayed out of it.”

She added, “But the time has come to unite behind our nominee. To be honest, it's been a complete s*** show since he left the White House.”

Nancy Mace gets harsh criticism

Internet users weren't happy with Nancy Mace's criticism of Nikki Haley.

One of the social media users said, "Good she gave it to Niki but I don’t trust her if she was that shifty during her campaign."

Someone else pointed out, "Nancy Mace is not too popular in SC either. She ran on Trump, then voted against him and now is back in the fold. I do not trust her. Major disappointment to my family in SC."

"Mace always has her finger up to the wind," said the third netizen.

Someone else castigated Haley, however, "What campaign? The woman is living in a delusion."
