WASHINGTON, DC: Following President Joe Biden's unexpected withdrawal from a second-term candidacy, independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr declared that the battle for the presidency is a 'two-man race' and that only he can defeat Donald Trump.

At a hurriedly scheduled press conference on Sunday, July 21, from his family's historic Hyannis Port, Massachusetts property, Kennedy complimented Biden while accusing Democratic Party officials of 'hiding' his mental health problems, as per Fox News.

RFK Jr says only he can defeat Donald Trump in Presidential race

Robert F Kennedy Jr said, "I want to begin by commending President Joe Biden for a career in public service: a long, long career and representing and serving our country and for his handling of the many difficulties and challenges, personal challenges and tragedies that he suffered during his life with so much admirable conduct and the empathy that he derives from those experiences."

Kennedy said the Democratic National Committee caused a disaster by covering for Biden. Kennedy departed the party his family once controlled because it prevented him from running against Biden in the primaries.

He argued, "The reaction of the DNC to that obvious condition was to hide it from the American public and to use their power over the Democratic Party nomination process to make sure that nobody could compete with President Biden in a way that would expose his deficiencies."

Moreover, on a platform that criticizes 'corporate capture', the affordability problem, and 'forever wars', Kennedy carried on with his campaign as an independent and has risen to double digits in some surveys, according to his campaign website.

Furthermore, Kennedy also criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, who seems certain to lead the Democratic ticket, and former president Donald Trump.

He said, "President Trump has a connection to the American people, a populist connection. But in many ways, it's the same fraudulent connection that we saw with the DNC over the past year, concealing a real purpose of their objective, which was to give us a president that … represents corporate interests rather than the interests of the American public."

He further added, "If the Democrats do what I suspect they're going to do, which is to anoint Kamala Harris, a vice president who is monumentally unpopular within her own party … they're doing it because it's the easiest way to hold on to the money."

Notably, Kennedy stated that if the Democratic candidacy were made available to him, he would think about taking it. "I would certainly listen to the party elders if they came to me, I would discuss something with them," he said.

He added, "I'm the only presidential candidate who can beat Donald Trump, and if I were them, I would do that, and I would certainly listen to their proposals."

He further stated, "I wouldn't be the front-runner, because by the time I left the Democratic Party, it was really clear that, and this is the only reason I left that day, that the rules have been rigged to prevent me from winning."

Internet divided as RFK Jr calls it a '2-man race' after Joe Biden drops presidential bid

Many people on the internet had mixed reactions as RFK Jr declared that the battle for the presidency is a 'two-man race' and that only he can defeat Donald Trump.

A user wrote on X, "This guy is bought and paid for with worms in his head," while one added, "Unless the convention chooses Big Mike, then it is a three-man race again."

A person also stated, "RFK is far better than anyone else they have…," whereas one mentioned, "He's right. Two men, one woman."

A user also commented, "Give it up," while one wrote, "Lol, so does Joe Manchin."

A person also stated, "Yea one is a dolt and the other a joke. You can sort out who is who. Both men have moral and mental deficiencies," whereas one added, "He is right, the other one is probably a woman named Harris."
