LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Megyn Kelly, known for her candid critiques, didn't hold back when discussing Kamala Harris’ recent appearance on 'The Drew Barrymore Show.' Kelly appeared unimpressed with what she perceived as a lack of substance from the vice president during her guest spot.

“It’s classic Kamala Harris trying to offer fake profundities with her fake affect when she’s saying nothing,” remarked Kelly on 'The Megyn Kelly Show' after watching a preview clip of Harris’ interview.

She went further, saying Harris delivered "her normal air sandwich". Additionally, Kelly took aim at Barrymore's close proximity to Harris during the segment, suggesting discomfort on Harris’ part.

Kamala Harris defends her laughter

While Kelly’s comments were based solely on the preview clip, the full interview segment saw Harris delve into the history of her distinctive laugh and address the criticism surrounding it.

Harris attributed her laugh to the influence of the strong women in her family, defending it as authentic and encouraging others not to conform to societal expectations.

“Apparently some people like to talk about the way I laugh,” Harris said during the interview. “I have my mother’s laugh, and I grew up, around a bunch of women in particular, who laughed from the belly. They would sit around in the kitchen drinking their coffee, telling big stories with big laughs. I’m never going to be —” at which point she acted out a quiet, stereotypically girlish laugh.

“I’m not that person,” Harris added. “I think it’s really important for us to remind each other, and our younger ones, don’t be confined to other’s people’s perception about what this looks like, how you should act in order to be,” she added.

“Right? It’s really important. It’s, it’s important.”

Megyn Kelly remains skeptical: Dissecting Harris’ laughter and Barrymore’s response

However, Kelly remained unswayed, expressing disdain for both Harris’ comments and Barrymore’s apparent admiration. She speculated that Harris’ laugh might be used as a deflection or protection mechanism, comparing it to a character from the TV show 'Modern Family' who inappropriately laughs at serious moments.

“I hate everything about this clip,” Kelly said, including both Harris’ comments and Barrymore’s reaction — including her getting so up close and personal with the VP. Kelly speculated that Harris must have been “uncomfortable.”

“I feel like Secret Service is probably like ‘a little farther away, madam.’ And the, ‘Ah!’ When [Harris] is like, she’s got her mother’s laugh,” Kelly added.

Kelly's critique didn't spare Harris’ laugh, labeling it as odd and suggesting it's often deployed at inappropriate times.

"She laughs at the wrong times,” Kelly said.

Despite Harris' explanation of its origins, Kelly dismissed it as performative, suggesting that neither woman was genuine during the exchange.

“No one gives a s**t that she got the laugh from the mother. What you’re seeing up there is entirely performative by both women.”

Internet reacts to Drew Barrymore's sit down with Kamala Harris

Social media users expressed mixed views on Drew Barrymore's interaction with Kamala Harris, ranging from admiration to skepticism.

One user said, "I like Drew Barrymore. I root for her always, but that feigning of being so touched by Kamala having the laugh of her mother is too much even if it had been performed by someone who had a mother."

Another said, "Drew looks at Kamala Harris as if she is ET."

One user commented, "All this woman does is lie. Lying, she."

Another added, "I agree with @michaeljknowleson Kamala Harris. I also agree with him about #ripcricket . Look, this was a chicken attack before he was put down, but what if the next time there was a baby nursery next door the dog decides to run into? @KristiNoemis a hero!!! #savethebabies."

One replied, "Drew Barrymore was sycophantically breaking all rules of personal space in the clip I saw. Sitting so close, leaning in adoringly. Harris looked like she was trying to edge back as far as she could in her seat. It looked horribly uncomfortable."
