Isabella Strahan opens up on 'hating' hormone shots during egg freezing before starting chemo for brain tumor

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Michael Strahan's daughter, Isabella Strahan has opened up about her challenging health journey after she is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.

In the second installment of her YouTube series about her diagnosis, the 19-year-old explained that taking hormone shots to freeze her eggs before she underwent treatment was "rough" but necessary.

Isabella Strahan says her first step after diagnosis was egg-freezing

In her second YouTube video titled 'Rehabbing from Surgery', Isabella who is also a student and model shared, "since chemo and radiation can affect my fertility, my first step was egg freezing."

In October 2023, she underwent emergency surgery to remove a type of malignant tumor called medulloblastoma.

"That was not fun for me. At all," said Isabella who was seen sitting on a couch and was accompanied by her twin sister Sophia, and her father's girlfriend, Kayla Quick.

Referring to the hormone shots administered in Isabella's abdomen to retrieve the eggs from the ovaries before the procedure, Quick said, "You hated the shots."

"I am not a big needle person ... I've gotten used to my blood and IVs, but shots? That was rough," Isabella replied.

Isabella Strahan opens up on the moment she decided to shave her hair

The teenager further explained the three shots taken in her stomach every day for a week before the retrieval procedure "hurt so bad."

"It was like a CIA operation, getting there," Quick joked.

"This was a good time. I still had hair. I loved that," Isabella of the procedure which took place on Thanksgiving day.

Two weeks later, the 19-year-old decided to shave her head after her hair became thin following radiation. She said it was "worse than probably not having hair."

"It starts to thin and just kind of fall out. I couldn't even look at myself," she revealed.

"It was like 4 AM. This was like, midlife crisis," said the model who shaved off her hair while Sophia joined her on FaceTime.

Isabella who will be starting chemotherapy in February at Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center in Durham, North Carolina is planning to donate all financial proceeds from her YouTube vlog to Duke University's Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, according to People.

Isabella who is one of Strahan's four children maintains a positive mindset about her health journey. "I just hope anyone who sees this knows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that things will get better because every day is another day closer to getting better and closer to feeling better,” said Isabella.

"Progress takes a lot of time… try to see the positive things," she shared in her first vlog.
