NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Elon Musk’s ‘furious’ mother Maye found herself in hot water as she lashed out at President Joe Biden after the Federal Communications Commission declined to give Starlink nearly $900 million in subsidies.

On Wednesday, December 13, 75-year-old Maye Musk took to X to accuse the President of halting the billionaire’s attempts to “make this world a better place.”

“I am the mother of @elonmusk His goal is to make this world a better place. @POTUS wants to stop him. Have you any idea how furious I am?” Maye Musk wrote on X, one of many companies owned by her son.

She then complained that it was inexplicable how the FCC declared that her son’s business had “failed to demonstrate that it could deliver the promised service.”

“People in other countries are proud of Elon and do not understand the US President’s motive. Please tell me how I should answer them,” she continued.

Why did Starlink lose $900M in subsidies?

In support of her critique, Maye used a tweet by FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr, who accused his agency of joining a “growing list of federal agencies engaging in the regulatory harassment of Elon Musk.”

Carr was one of two Republican commissioners on the five-member FCC who voted against the commission's decision to uphold its 2022 ruling that Starlink, the satellite internet division of SpaceX, would not get $885.5 million in rural broadband subsidies.

Based on speed-test results, the FCC withdrew the funds in August 2022, even though Starlink had committed to deliver high-speed internet access to 642,000 rural homes and businesses across 35 states, according to the New York Post.

Carr alleged that the FCC, led by Democratic-appointed chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel, reached its judgment based on the Biden administration’s anger toward Elon Musk.

Since President Biden entered office in 2020, Musk has repeatedly locked horns with his administration. The entrepreneur called Joe Biden a “damp sock puppet” and said that the president ignored Tesla because the company was at the forefront of developing electric cars, a technology that the administration backs.

The Tesla owner echoed the assertions made by Carr and his mother, stating on X that the White House was "changing the rules to prevent SpaceX from competing."

Internet reacts to Maye Musk’s furious criticism

Maye’s fierce tweet has garnered immense social media attention, with users slamming her for defending Musk and blasting President Biden.

“It's not kindergarten. He can answer for himself, “ one social media user wrote. “After 50 it's a bit cringey to have your mommy telling the world what a good boy you've been,” a second user mocked.

“Maye I know you support your son but he needs to stop being friends with criminals and people with criminal tendencies!” the third user suggested, while the fourth one said, “This is the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen.”

“Pure theatre. *yawns*,” one user said. “Have you read what Elon has said about you? I actually understood him after hearing about what you had done to him. Don’t pat your back just yet,” another tweeted.
