WASHINGTON, DC: Amid controversy over Joe Biden's alleged health cover-up, CNN's Jake Tapper has questioned President Donald Trump about not being transparent about his health information as he promoted his new book — ‘Original Sin’ — co-authored with Axios journalist Alex Thompson.

In the book, published on May 20, the lead Washington anchor for CNN mentioned that former president Biden’s health issues were allegedly covered up by his aides during his term so that he could seek reelection.

More recently, the former president was diagnosed with prostate cancer, representing “a more aggressive form of the disease."

“The cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” Biden’s office said.

Jake Tapper says Donald Trump has ‘not been transparent about his health records’

But now during an interview on Thursday, May 22, on ‘The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer’, Jake Tapper said Donald Trump should also be more open about his health, as reported by Fox News.

“I just think in general, not Trump specific, but in general, I think that the press corps, and I‘m certainly including myself, needs to worry less about politeness when it comes to these health issues and needs to be even more aggressive when it comes to demanding transparency on health issues,” he told Thompson and Blitzer.

He further stated, “When it comes to the president, President Trump, while he appears healthy, he has not been transparent about his health records.”

Tapper, who himself has faced criticism for allegedly underreporting noteable signs of Biden's mental and physical decline while he was president, added, “And I think that that‘s something that the American people have a right to.”

Donald Trump’s team claims president ‘remains in excellent health’

The 56-year-old journalist’s statement came after last month the White House released Donald Trump’s physical exam report.

In a statement, Navy Captain Sean P Barbabella, the physician to the president, said, “President Donald J Trump underwent his annual physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.”

“I performed and supervised the comprehensive exam, which included diagnostic and laboratory testing, as well as consultations with fourteen specialty consultants, all in accordance with U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendations. The President has consented to release the physical exam findings to the public,” Barbabella added.

The report also asserted that the Republican leader “remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function," and that his "active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being.”
