NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: James Carville shared his thoughts on a surprising video from former first lady Melania Trump, in which she voiced pro-choice views that stand in stark contrast to the GOP’s direction under her husband, former president Donald Trump.

In the promotional video for her new book 'Melania', she emphasized the importance of individual freedom and women’s rights, boldly stating, “There is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women possess from birth, individual freedom. What does my body, my choice really mean?”

Melania Trump's remarks have sparked intrigue and debate, particularly as the Republican Party remains deeply divided on the issue of abortion in the wake of Roe v Wade’s overturning.

The former first lady’s remarks have added a new dimension to the ongoing discourse around women’s reproductive rights within the party.

“It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government,” the 54-year-old wrote in her memoir.

During a recent CNN appearance, when asked by Michael Smerconish about the timing and potential impact of Melania’s statements amid GOP’s internal struggles over abortion, Carville responded with laughter and a bold theory.

He suggested that Melania’s comments were not just a personal stance but a deliberate attempt to undermine her husband’s political prospects.

"I think you have an entirely wrong interpretation about what Mrs. Trump did. I think she can’t stand him, and I think it was very intentional," asserted Carville.

The Democratic strategist suggested that the former first lady’s vocal support for pro-choice values and her subtle emphasis on being pro-immigrant was a calculated move to damage Trump’s chances as he ramps up his presidential campaign.

James Carville says the idea of Melania Trump helping Donald Trump is 'entirely wrong'

While some commentators have suggested that Melania Trump’s public stance on such a divisive issue could be part of a strategy to broaden her husband, Donald Trump’s appeal to more moderate voters, James Carville quickly dismissed that interpretation.

The political consultant argued that viewing Melania’s comments as politically beneficial for the former president would be a mistake.

"But again, the rule of the commentariat is every piece of information must be interpreted in the most negative light to the Democrats," said Carville.

He further noted that the idea she is trying to help Trump politically is “entirely wrong.”

Carville revealed that he believes Melania is actively trying to cause her husband “all the misery and anxiety that she possibly can,” according to Raw Story.
