JD Vance, wife Usha welcome fourth child, reveal baby boy's name
WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance have welcomed their fourth child, announcing the birth of their baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, on Sunday, July 19.
The couple shared the news in a joint Instagram post, revealing that both mother and baby are healthy and thanking the medical teams who cared for their family during the delivery. The announcement comes months after the Vances revealed in January that they were expecting another son.
JD Vance and Usha Vance announce the birth of baby Alec Neel Vance
"We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning," the couple wrote in their joint statement.
"Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother," they added.
The Vances also expressed gratitude to the doctors, nurses and medical personnel who assisted with the birth.
"The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing," the statement said. "We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family."
The vice president and second lady first announced the pregnancy in January, sharing that their family was preparing to welcome a fourth child. At the time, they said they were eagerly awaiting the arrival of another baby boy.
How Alec Neel Vance expands the Vance family
Alec Neel Vance is the fourth child of JD and Usha Vance, who met while attending Yale Law School and married in 2014. The couple are also parents to sons Ewan and Vivek and daughter Mirabel.
Their three older children became familiar faces during the 2025 inauguration festivities, accompanying their parents to the swearing-in ceremony at the US Capitol and the inaugural parade at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
The birth marks another milestone for the Vance family as JD Vance continues serving as vice president. The announcement quickly drew an outpouring of congratulatory messages from supporters and public figures across social media.
Usha Vance has largely maintained a low public profile while serving as second lady, though she has frequently appeared alongside her husband at official events and campaign appearances. The couple have often emphasized the importance of family life despite the demands of public office.
With the arrival of Alec Neel Vance, the Vances are now a family of six. Their statement concluded on a grateful note, thanking the medical professionals who supported them throughout the birth and expressing excitement as their three older children welcomed their new baby brother home.
