WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance stepped out for dinner at a Washington, DC, restaurant on Wednesday, March 12, keeping the outing relatively low-key. The couple dined at the popular Italian restaurant Divino Ristorante, looking much like any other couple enjoying a night out, except for their Secret Service detail and the commemorative coins they left behind. The restaurant’s owner later shared details about hosting the couple during their visit.

DC restaurant owner reveals details about Usha Vance’s Second Lady coins for staff

Restaurant owner Luca Giovannini told TMZ that JD Vance and Usha Vance arrived with friends and enjoyed a spread of dishes, including pizza, filet mignon, short rib pappardelle, tagliatelle bolognese, house-made focaccia, tiramisu, and chocolate mousse, along with other signature items. According to Giovannini, the vice president opted for the filet mignon as his main course.

Although the reservation was made under a different name, Giovannini said he suspected something unusual when members of the Secret Service arrived about an hour earlier with dogs to sweep the premises.

He added that the entire group, including the agents, was warm and courteous throughout the evening. According to the divinodc Instagram page, the couple "sat in the main dining room among other guest, and Giovannini said say they received a 'very nice' reception."

Before leaving the restaurant, the couple thanked the staff, and Usha Vance left six commemorative Second Lady coins for the team as a gesture of appreciation, Giovannini said.

The second couple dined in DC as they await their fourth child

JD Vance and Usha Vance went out for dinner at a Washington, DC, restaurant as the second lady is expecting the couple’s fourth child. The couple shared the pregnancy news in late January 2026.

In a post on the social media platform X, Usha Vance said she is expecting a baby boy, due in late July. A statement shared on her account also said that she and the baby are doing well.

The couple already have three young children: Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel.

Usha Vance will be the first second lady to have a baby while her husband is serving as vice president. However, some first ladies have had children while their husbands were president. For example, Frances Cleveland, wife of Grover Cleveland, gave birth to her daughter Esther in the White House in 1893.

JD Vance has also spoken openly about wanting higher birth rates in the United States. In 2025, he said, “Let me say very simply: I want more babies in the United States of America.”
