WASHINGTON, DC: JD Vance addressed a social media rumor this week that a viral picture showed him yelling at his wife Usha Vance in a restaurant.

The unverified snap shows the vice president leaning forward with an angry face while Usha stares down at the table.

“Looks like things are not so good in Republicanistan,” wrote Facebook user Thomas Clay Jr alongside the image. “Usha is a liberal. Always has been. Apparently, they were having an argument loud enough to quiet the restaurant. Why is he wearing a tee shirt?”

JD Vance claps back at rumor

Vance came across the chatter on X and slipped in a rather dry response.

“I always wear an undershirt when I go out in public to have a fight loudly with my wife,” he quipped.

The latest frenzy comes after months of speculation about the couple’s married life.

The gossip first boiled over in October when Charlie Kirk’s wife gave Vance a tight hug at a memorial event. At that same event, Vance mentioned pleading with Usha to convert to Catholicism, which only fueled further speculation.

Vances marriage rumors keep boomeranging

The vice president has been working overtime to swat away the more bizarre claims. Just last week, he sat down for an interview where he crushed the idea that Usha’s missing wedding ring signaled some sort of domestic meltdown.

The Daily Mail reported in November that Usha appeared ringless at an event with Melania Trump. She was again spotted without the jewelry in early December during a visit to Joint Base Andrews with the first lady.

Her spokesperson had a simple explanation. She said Usha “does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”

Vance told NBC News that the couple actually finds the pearl-clutching pretty entertaining. “I think that we kind of get a kick out of it,” he said.

“With anything in life, you take the good with the bad,” he said. “You accept that there are some sacrifices and there are some very good things that come along with it, too. But our marriage is as strong as it's ever been, and I think Usha's really taken to it, and it's been kind of cool to see how she's developed and evolved in this new role.”

At the same time, he admitted the scrutiny stings. “There are certainly ways in which it's difficult on the family … I'm not going to pretend that it isn't. But it's the sacrifice that we signed up for.”

The great ring mystery and how Vances 'have fun with it'

Vance even offered a breakdown of why Usha went ringless during that recent outing with Melania. Turns out she was running late.

As they hustled out the door for the White House, Usha realized she had left her rings upstairs after showering. “She was like, 'Oh, if I don't go back and get them, there's going to be some ridiculous psycho who talks about it on social media,'” Vance recalled. “And I was like, 'Let them. It's not even worth the trip to run back upstairs.'”

The couple even enjoyed watching the buzz that followed. “So we actually have a little bit of fun with it. And we thought that whole viral social media cycle was kind of funny," he said.

JD and Usha Vance married in 2014 and share three children. Usha typically dodges the spotlight, but she’s stepped out recently to launch a childhood literacy initiative.

“I think that when you're in love with somebody, you're always sort of curious what they get attached to and what they get interested in,” Vance gushed. “It's been amazing to see her really lean into this child literacy thing. And I think it speaks very highly of her.”
