LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande, known for her singing and sometimes controversial statements, is facing criticism online.

She said she once wanted to have dinner with serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who killed and dismembered 17 men over 13 years.

After her comments on a podcast, the family of one of Dahmer's victims criticized her, accusing her of lacking understanding of the impact their loved ones' deaths had on them.

Jeffrey Dahmer's victim's family disappointed over Ariana Grande's remark

On the 'Podcrushed' podcast, the 30-year-old singer revealed an unusual choice for a dream dinner companion: infamous serial killer Dahmer.

The revelation has deeply disturbed the family of Tony Hughes, a deaf and non-verbal victim murdered by Dahmer in 1991, as per TMZ.

Shirley, Hughes' mother, expressed her hope that Grande would understand the hurtful impact of her comments, mentioning that Grande's revelation deeply affected her. Shirley was especially disturbed when Grande laughed during the podcast while discussing her fascination with Dahmer.

Shirley wanted Grande and the public to understand that she and other victims' families continue to experience pain whenever Dahmer is mentioned.

She remarked, "To me, it seems like she’s sick in her mind. It’s not fancy or funny to say you would have wanted to do dinner with him. It’s also not something you should say to young people, which she says she did."

Shirley expressed disappointment that Grande did not appear to empathize with the victims' loved ones. Hughes’ sister, Barbara, echoed these sentiments, noting that Grande's remarks seemed to glorify Dahmer, who was killed in prison in 1994.

Barbara hoped that Grande would apologize so her fans understand that such behavior is unacceptable.

However, it's not just Grande who finds true crime stories like Dahmer's intriguing. The genre enjoys immense popularity across TV, movies, streaming services, and books, generating substantial revenue.

Hughes’ family similarly felt upset when the Netflix series 'Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story' aired, with Evan Peters portraying the infamous cannibal.

Creator Ryan Murphy defended the project, noting extensive research and attempts to contact 20 victims' families and friends, despite receiving no response.

Barbara summed up her feelings towards Ariana by saying, "Unfortunately, until it happens to her and her family, she just doesn’t know what we have been through."

One user demanded, "This happened years ago here in Milwaukee. What Dahmer did was just heinous, and traumatized these families of their loved ones, who were victims of his. To make any kind of comment about him at all, even jokingly or not, is disgusting. A.G. needs to apologize." [sic]

Another user trolled, "Wow I'm pretty sure Jeffrey will be so proud someone like this b**** would give a compliment if he was alive today," while the other added, "she got a death wish sounds like mental issues to me" [sic]

A user criticized, "Does she really have a death wish to even say such things? She clearly lost her mind," The last user expressed disappointment, "I just lost all respect. She’s obviously just a desperate attention hog." [sic]
