LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Jennifer Aniston has publicly spoken out about what she calls an “unthinkable” move by President Donald Trump, raising alarms about free expression and media integrity.

Her comments come amid disruptions to late-night television and streaming subscriptions.

Jennifer Aniston warns of Trump’s impact on TV freedom and streaming trend

In an interview with Elle magazine, Aniston addressed the role of Trump in shaping media and entertainment consequences. She said, “Unthinkable things are happening. It’s very dangerous and very unfortunate."

Aniston referenced the brief suspension of her good friend Jimmy Kimmel from the network ABC, which she believes was influenced by the current administration.

She emphasized that “at the end of the day, we’re the viewers. We subscribe to these networks and streaming services, so it really comes down to the people and their voices.” The suspension of Kimmel’s show triggered thousands of cancellations on Disney+ in protest before his program was brought back on air.

According to research firm Antenna, for the month of September 2025, "the US cancellation rate for Disney+ averaged 8%, double the 4% estimate for the prior two months, while Hulu’s cancellation rate for the month was 10%, twice the 5% for the preceding two months.”

Aniston remarked that “all those subscription cancellations spoke volumes.” 'The Morning Show' star has maintained her friendship with Kimmel and his executive-producer wife, Molly McNearney.

Jennifer Aniston backs Kamala Harris and criticizes Trump’s return to power

Aniston has been vocal in her opposition to Trump previously. During the 2024 election cycle, she advocated for his opponent Kamala Harris, and she voted against Trump for “sanity and human decency.” Since Trump’s return to the presidency, Aniston and other stars have raised concerns about what they call a crackdown on free expression under the MAGA-aligned administration.

The fallout from Kimmel’s suspension has continued to reverberate. For example, actor Oscar Isaac, once open to returning to his role as Poe Dameron in the 'Star Wars' franchise, said he changed his mind after the incident.

He stated, “Right now I’m not so open to working with Disney... if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great. If that happens, then yeah, I’d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away.”

She has also spoken out against JD Vance following resurfaced remarks in which he referred to Democrats as “a bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives.” Aniston replied, “I truly can’t believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States. All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day.”
