Jennifer Lopez thanks God she 'finally got it' after Ben Affleck split as 'it's exactly what' she needed

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez has revealed the emotional toll of her split from Ben Affleck, but she views the experience as one that helped her grow, according to People.

In a candid conversation with comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, Lopez, 55, shared that her second breakup with Affleck, 52, almost "took her out for good."

The couple, who were first engaged in the early 2000s before rekindling their romance in 2021 and marrying in 2022, separated earlier this year. Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, marking their second wedding anniversary.

Reflecting on the breakup, Lopez said, "That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did, but now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, f**k, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times."

She added, "I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it, you had to hit me really hard over the head with a f*****g sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again." Lopez emphasized that the divorce, while painful, provided her with invaluable lessons. 

After expressing to Glaser, that she had "finally got it," Lopez was quick to clarify, "And by the way, that doesn’t mean I have everything figured out."

The 'Unstoppable' actress said, “It’s a lifelong process, I think that's what I love about life that there's no arrival point. There's only getting better and growing if you want to. It's either growing or dying, and I don't want to do the dying part."

Looking ahead, Lopez expressed excitement about being on her own and enjoying a new chapter of independence. "Yes, I’m not looking for anybody, because everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f*****g do when it’s just me flying on my own," she said. "What if I’m just free?"

Lopez’s marriage to Affleck was her fourth, following previous unions with Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony. The singer has two children with Anthony, twins Emme and Max, and noted that she’s eager to continue learning and evolving through life's challenges.
