WASHINGTON, DC: Former first lady Jill Biden has once again fueled speculations regarding a rift between her and former vice president Kamala Harris after a recent meeting between the two women went viral on social media. 

After years of speculation of animosity between the former first lady and Harris, it appeared that the tension between them was thawing after a surprising photo of the duo from former president Joe Biden’s farewell address went viral online. 

However, within a week of Joe Biden’s farewell address, several fans accused the former first lady of giving a side eye to the former vice president.

Just a few days after former president Joe Biden’s farewell address to the nation on January 15, Jill Biden and Kamala Harris met each other during President Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20.

Before handing the keys of the White House to Trump, Joe and Jill Biden greeted Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff. While the duo posed for photographs together, one moment caught the internet's attention.

As the two couples bade farewell to the crowd that included journalists and photographers, they turned to enter the building. 

It was at that moment when Jill appeared to pause and looked at Harris through the corner of her eyes and then up and down before the party entered the White House. This led many social media users to believe that she was probably giving the former VP a side-eye and has not resolved issues with her husband's former deputy, according to Nicki Swift. 

Sharing a clip of the exchange, one social media user noted, “Omg! The way Jill looks Kamala up & down! It’s going to be a drama packed day! 🔥.”

Despite the speculation of the pervading tension, the two women were also photographed sharing a warm laugh before embracing each other. 

While this is far from the first time that the duo have been rumored to harbor bad blood, the latest exchange comes off as a surprise following their warm meeting during Biden’s farewell speech. 

As the former commander-in-chief gave his emotional speech, his wife, Harris, and Emhoff were seated in the Oval Office. 

"It's been the highest honor of my life to lead you as commander in chief, and of course, [thank you] to Kamala and her incredible partner," Biden said while giving a shout-out to his VP and her husband. "A historic vice president. She and Doug have become like family, and to me, family is everything," he added.

Meanwhile, in the Oval Office, Emhoff held Harris’s hand, while Biden reached out to rest her hand on top of their joined palm, presumably to show support.

As the clip went viral, social media users soon came up with theories about the alleged frosty exchange between Jill Biden and Kamala Harris. While a section of the netizens declared that the former first lady "hated" the former VP, another group declared that it was an "unscripted soap opera."

One of the social media users declared, "Jill hates her."

"This is a “real time unscripted” soap opera," another user wrote.

Referring to the past rumors, one person stated, "They’ve always hated each other."

Another person added, "I was actually expecting Dr Jill to ignore her. I guess she was told she had to be cordial but she didn’t like it. 😂"

"As a backside of boomer gen ...it makes me sad ...," an individual said, before adding, "We used to expect better from ppl like this in "their position.""
