WASHINGTON, DC: First lady Jill Biden announced earlier this week that the White House Christmas tree they chose for this year’s holiday season came from a Christmas tree farm in North Carolina, specifically the Blue Ridge Mountain area, devastated by Hurricane Helene.

She tried to explain to the media in a message that taking the fir from North Carolina was supposed to symbolize and honor the strength of North Carolina and all that they’ve gone through recently, according to Whiskey Riff.

Jill Biden said, "This beautiful Frasier fir was grown at the Cartner Christmas Tree Farm, where the Cartner family has been growing trees for more than 60 years. Their farm is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, a region that was recently devastated by Hurricane Helene."

She added, "The Cartner family lost thousands of trees in the storm. But this one remained standing, and they named it 'Treemendous' for the extraordinary hope that it represents… This tree recognizes (the North Carolina National Guard’s) tremendous strength and service."

Notably, North Carolina is one of the states known for producing trees to be sent all across the country this time of year, along with Oregon, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, as per the outlet.

Sam Cartner, owner of Cartner Christmas Tree Farm, told Fox News in October that his farm has competed several times, and that it's honored to be chosen.

He said, "What we're really excited about is the industry and [about] the Fraser fir being recognized as the top Christmas tree in the nation, and we're excited to promote the industry and get recognized for our green product that's totally recyclable – and [it's] good for the environment and good for families."

Internet trolls Jill Biden for taking Christmas tree from hurricane-ravaged North Carolina

Several internet users trolled Jill Biden as she announced that the White House Christmas tree they chose for this year’s holiday season came from a Christmas tree farm in North Carolina.

A user wrote on X, "It could survive a category 4 hurricane, but it couldn't survive the Biden's." One added, "We are honoring this tree that survived the hurricane by cutting it down."

A person also stated, "It remained standing not so they could just cut it down!! And I thought the Bidens are all in for a greener environment! Hypocrites!" Another mentioned, "This probably isn’t going to send the message they were thinking about. But it perfectly symbolizes the current administration and the current state of the Democratic Party."

A user also wrote, "It's bad enough Biden refused to help the people of NC, not they Cut down the only tree that survived there." One commented, "She has a hell of a nerve receiving this Fraser fir from NC. It shows how entitled the Bidens think they are."

A person also mentioned, "Who thought this was a good idea??? I swear, the people in this administration have the collective IQ of a glass of tap water."
