WASHINGTON, DC: First Lady Jill Biden's ex-husband, Bill Stevenson, suggested President Joe Biden should get a cognitive test, claiming the octogenarian's ABC News interview left him "even more worried" about the nation's state.

"I wish he would have the cognitive test," Stevenson, who was married to the current FLOTUS from 1970 to 1975, told the New York Post on Saturday, July 6.

Referring to the 81-year-old's interview with George Stephanopoulos, he added, "George asked him about three or four times. It's what the whole world is thinking about. I feel badly that this guy is someone who now can't make a decision in the middle of the night."

Stevenson further argued that the interview indicated that the President "has deeper issues" because he acted "very defensive".

Bill Stevenson hopes Donald Trump will defeat Joe Biden in November

Stevenson signaled to the outlet that he hoped for former President Donald Trump's victory in the upcoming election.

"I actually hope Biden stays in the race and gets beaten by Trump," he said.

"That would be best for the country. My life was better, the economy was better, everything was better under Trump."

President Biden, in his first televised interview after a poor debate performance against Trump, attempted to stop the calls for his exit from the campaign from those who raised concerns about his cognitive ability.

Admitting the debate was a "bad night," he asserted that only "Lord Almighty" could intervene to stop him from competing for a second White House term.

Stevenson, who lives less than two miles from the President's house in Delaware, last week said that Jill had turned into a "completely different woman" than the one he married decades ago. He also added that he "no longer recognizes" his ex-wife.

Ever since Biden's age and mental acuity became a crucial concern for many, Jill faced widespread criticism over the way she handled President Biden. Many critics noted that she could have intervened to persuade her husband to step aside in light of his age, but Jill mirrored the President's adamancy, showing no plans to advise him.
