MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Fox News host Greg Gutfeld believes Donald Trump might secure victory in November's election if he is thrown behind bars amid the hush money trial.

This comes as Judge Juan Merchan held Trump in contempt for the tenth time on Monday, May 6, citing violations of a gag order, intended to prevent the ex-POTUS from attacking jurors and witnesses involved in the case.

Judge Merchan cautioned Trump about potential jail time should he continue to defy the order.

In the ongoing hush money trial, which entered its third week of testimony, Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony charges related to falsifying business records to conceal payments aimed at covering up alleged affairs prior to the 2016 presidential election.

He is also facing criminal indictments in three other jurisdictions.

Greg Gutfeld says Donald Trump's hush money trial is sharpening him like a bronco

During a recent broadcast of 'The Five', while the panel was discussing Judge Merchan's jail time warning, Gutfeld said, "I hope they do arrest Trump. I hope they put him in jail because that does guarantee that he wins. Please, please, please. This is becoming the greatest third act of any political story."

He noted that the trial is "focusing and sharpening Trump."

"He comes out of the gate like a bronco ready to just roar," remarked Gutfeld, adding, "And it’s working. I mean, man, it’s like he’s up. Keep it going."

Although there's no polling data on how Americans would respond if Trump is jailed for violating the gag order, there are no surveys showing he would benefit from a conviction. In fact, the ex-POTUS would likely lose votes, as per an NBC News poll

Netizens divided over Greg Gutfeld's take on Donald Trump's possible incarceration

One expressed, "When will this whole everything bad that happens to Trump means he's going to be president logic be shown wrong over and over and over? Get real!"

"No, it won't," declared another while a person pointed out, "Some Americans are tired of this guy flouting the law, as though he is entitled to special treatment."

Someone else opined, "I’m willing to take that risk," and one more echoed, "He’s not wrong."

"Let's test this theory out," read another comment. An individual asked, "Would incarcerating Trump get him to keep his mouth off jurors and witnesses?"
