'I’ll do that sacrifice any day': Donald Trump hints he'll continue to speak despite prison warning over gag order violations

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump ended his day in the court by suggesting he would continue to speak despite gag order violations and subsequent fines and jail threats from the Mahhttan Judge during his ongoing hush money trial.

Trump complained about the gag order while talking to the reporters outside the court stating gag order bars him from talking about jurors, witnesses, and others connected to the trial.

He said he has to watch every word when reporters ask him a "simple" questions regarding the ongoing trial. 

“I have to watch every word I tell you people because this judge has given me a gag order and said you’ll go to jail if you violate it," Trump said.

He added, "...Frankly, you know what? Our Constitution is far more important than jail," and added, "It’s not even close. I’ll do that sacrifice any day," NBC News reported. 



 

 

Notably, Trump was fined for the 10th time on Monday by Judge Juan Merchan before the testimony started for the day, after he found him in contempt for violating the gag order and said he would consider hail time "going forward."

“Going forward, this court will have to consider a jail sanction,” Merchan said on Monday, May 6.

Judge Juan Merchan wants Donald Trump to understand the gag order

Judge Merchan then went on to explain to Donald Trump the importance of understanding the gag order.

“Mr Trump, it’s important you understand, the last thing I want to do is put you in jail," Merchan said.

"You are the former president of the United States and possibly the next president as well,” Merchan said.

“The magnitude of this decision is not lost on me but at the end of the day I have a job to do,” the judge further said, adding “So as much as I don’t want to impose a jail sanction … I want you to understand that I will if necessary and appropriate.”

Donald Trump complains slow moving trial

Trump also complained that the hush money trial which he sees as election interference "should be over."

"This case should have never been brought,” he said. “I thought they were finished today,” he said, accusing that “they all want to keep me off the campaign trail.”

He also went on to lash Joe Biden and Judge Merchan calling it a fake trial and saying the gag order was a "disgrace."

Previously, Juan Merchan told jurors that testimony was finishing about a half-hour earlier than usual and dismissed them.

After they left, he asked prosecutor Joshua Steinglass how quickly he thought the trial was progressing. “We’re doing well,” Steinglass responded.

On being inquired more, Steinglass estimated that the prosecution’s case would likely continue for approximately two more weeks from Tuesday, describing it as a “very, very rough guess.”

Donald Trump's suggestion to continue speaking amid a gag order has internet buzzing

"President Trump is willing to go to jail to save America," a supporter reacted on X. "HELL YEAH!!!" wrote another in affirmation. 

Ye one suggested Trump needed to behave himself, "Trump needs to behave himself. Jail time is not the win he thinks it is."



 



 



 

For his repeated complaints and jibes at Judge and Biden and now about the trial going on for two or more weeks one user wrote, "Everyday: Trump complains." 

One more wrote, "If Trump couldn't find something to complain about, he'd be more miserable and pitiful than he already is."



 



 

One more reflected on his acceptance to go to jail saying, "Well, if he wants to make this "sacrifice" who are we to stand in his way?" "Trump is begging to go to prison instead of following the law," wrote another.
