LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jim Carrey is mourning the loss of Chuck Russell, the director of his popular 1994 movie 'The Mask'. The actor shared a heartfelt tribute after Russell’s death, remembering him as a filmmaker who brought joy, creativity, and a special energy to the set. 

The director died at the age of 74. Carrey said working with Russell was a privilege and praised the director for creating a fun and positive atmosphere while making the film. 

Beyond 'The Mask', Russell was also known for directing other popular films, including 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors', 'The Blob', 'Eraser', and more.

Jim Carrey says Chuck Russell made ‘The Mask’ set a place of wonder and camaraderie

Carrey said he considered it a “privilege” to have worked with Chuck Russell, recalling how the director created an atmosphere filled with joy and collaboration during the filming of 'The Mask'. The actor praised Russell for making the experience feel special for the entire cast and crew, describing the set as one filled with a sense of “wonder”.

Jim tells TMZ, “I consider it a privilege to have worked with Chuck Russell, who, during the shooting of 'The Mask,' created an ebullient, childlike atmosphere of wonder and camaraderie on his set."

"The entire cast and crew were touched and inspired by his playfulness. Every one of us has been many years blessed by that buoyant and timeless moment. I consider 'The Mask' one of the jewels of my creative life. Thank you, Chuck," Jim shared.
