LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A claim about comedian Jim Carrey delivering a 19-minute speech condemning “the painful reality of Palestine's suffering and the world’s deafening silence” on Gaza is circulating on social media.

It gained traction after a YouTube video with more than 135,000 views claimed to feature Carrey’s voice passionately describing the suffering of Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas war.

Claim: Jim Carrey gave a speech condemning the ‘world's deafening silence’ on Gaza

The video, titled “Jim Carrey speech on Palestine,” opened with lines such as, “Imagine a wound so deep that the earth itself seems to cry. Yet the world walks past it as if nothing bleeds. Palestine is not just a story of conflict. It is a living tragedy that has unfolded in plain sight where the cries of children echo through broken walls and silence has become the loudest sound from the international stage.”

Many viewers shared the clip on Facebook and LinkedIn, believing it to be authentic.

Fact Check: Jim Carrey did not give a speech about Gaza

There is no evidence that Jim Carrey ever delivered such a speech. The YouTube video itself was labeled as containing “altered or synthetic content,” meaning it had been generated or manipulated.

An AI detection tool, Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector, analyzed the clip and found the “sampled voice is likely a deepfake.”

A search for Carrey’s name alongside “Palestine” or “Gaza” on Google yielded no results from credible news or entertainment outlets. Given the speech’s length (over 19 minutes) and subject matter, if Carrey had indeed spoken on the conflict, it would almost certainly have been covered by major media outlets. Instead, no such coverage exists.

Has Jim Carrey expressed opinions on Israel?

There is no record of Jim Carrey making public statements specifically about Israel or the Israel-Palestine conflict. Carrey has not given interviews, shared posts, or participated in events addressing Israeli affairs.

Carrey is widely recognized for his progressive political views, often speaking out on topics related to social justice in the United States. However, he has not taken a public position on Israel or the Israel-Palestine conflict.

He has neither voiced support for Israel nor criticized it.
