WASHINGTON, DC: Ohio Representative Jim Jordan reignited headlines by defending Ghislaine Maxwell’s recent DOJ interview, where she made claims about President Donald Trump related to Jeffrey Epstein.

During his appearance on Fox News’ 'The Big Weekend Show' on Saturday, August 23, the Republican insisted that Maxwell's testimony proves that the president did nothing wrong.

What did Jim Jordan claim about Ghislaine Maxwell's statement regarding Trump?

Jim Jordan began by stating, “This confirms what we all knew. We knew President Trump didn’t do anything wrong here.” He emphasized, “He said that repeatedly. This transcript is the whole transcript and it confirms that."

He concluded, "So I think there’s nothing there, it seems, based on what we got from the interview of Ms Maxwell.”

Maxwell’s interview with the Department of Justice in July revealed she firmly denied witnessing any inappropriate behavior from Trump. She also minimized the nature of Trump’s relationship with Epstein, describing it as not “close.”

She said, “I actually never saw the president in any type of massage setting,” and added, “I never witnessed the president in any inappropriate setting in any way. The president was never inappropriate with anybody. In the times that I was with him, he was a gentleman in all respects.”

“As far as I’m concerned, President Trump was always very cordial and very kind to me,” she said. “And I just want to say that I admire his extraordinary achievement in becoming the president now. And I like him, and I’ve always liked him.”

She added, “That is the sum and substance of my entire relationship with him."

However, Maxwell’s credibility is highly questionable. As a convicted child sex trafficker serving a 20-year federal sentence and a longtime associate of Epstein, she hardly stands as an impartial witness. Her testimony about Trump becomes even more complicated given that her lawyer has publicly sought a presidential pardon.

Maxwell’s attorney, David Markus, claimed last month, “Everybody knows Ms Maxwell would welcome any relief."

Jim Jordan is facing mockery and backlash online over his remarks about Ghislaine Maxwell’s testimony involving Donald Trump.

One wrote, "Pathetic take. Ghislaine Maxwell is a convicted sex trafficker, not a beacon of truth. Treating her word as exoneration is like boasting a serial killer vouched for your innocence. How much longer can Jordan keep humiliating himself groveling for Trump?"

Another said, "Jordan seems very happy to take the word of a convicted sex offender as long as that convicted sex offender is saying exactly what he wants her to say."

A person stated, "Liar. Say what we want, stay alive, get minimal security," while someone else wrote, "They should ask her if she or her accomplice did anything wrong and see what she says, just to level-set on her truth telling."

"Jim Jordan's defense of Trump using the Maxwell transcripts is a flat-out lie, a pathetic attempt to cover up the truth by a guy who's already been caught ignoring sexual abuse at Ohio State," another tweet read.

One more remarked, "There are a lot of people who don't want to believe him, but if he mentions Trump, they'll say it's the truth."
