WASHINGTON, DC: Celebrated author, JK Rowling warned politicians to take threats from the trans activist group Bash Back seriously after reports revealed the group was planning attacks on the offices of senior leaders, including the Prime Minister and Health Secretary Wes Streeting.

The group has already claimed responsibility for vandalising Streeting’s office following his comments expressing concern about puberty blocker drugs.

JK Rowling says the militant group is a 'totalitarian movement'

Rowling a Daily Mail report on X on Sunday, warning that political leaders must take the threats seriously. She described the group as a “totalitarian movement” and accused trans activists of escalating violent behaviour.

“Who knows, now that trans activists aren't only stalking, harassing, doxxing, threatening and physically assaulting women, our politicians might finally take the violence that's such a key feature of this totalitarian movement seriously,” she wrote.

Her post quickly drew a response from Bash Back’s official account, which replied, “Lol. Lmao even.”

Who is the trans activist group Bash Back?

Bash Back describes itself as a “trans-led direct action project focused on total transgender liberation.”

The group previously vandalised Health Secretary Wes Streeting’s Ilford North constituency office after he said he felt “deeply uncomfortable” with an NHS trial involving puberty-blocking drugs. During the incident, windows were smashed and the words “child killer” were spray-painted across the building.

Police opened an investigation following the attack. Bash Back later posted images of the damage online, alongside the message: “Don’t want action? Don’t kill kids.”

Reports revealed Bash Back’s latest plot

According to the Daily Mail, the group recently urged supporters to form small “cells” and prepare for further acts of criminal damage against high-profile targets.

In a warning directed at politicians, the group reportedly wrote: “If you think we’re done, you’ve got another thing coming. MP or PM, you’ve seen us once, we’ll see you again.”

The list of potential targets reportedly included the Free Speech Union and the feminist organisation Sex Matters. Journalists alerted the Metropolitan Police and parliamentary security teams on Saturday night. Following the alert, Free Speech Union founder Lord Young ordered an independent security review

In a pamphlet circulated online, Bash Back stated that it targets organisations it believes promote “transphobic” views, including opposition to puberty blockers, hormone treatments, and single-sex spaces.

The group also warned targets to expect continued action, claiming it would not leave them alone. After its first public attack on Streeting’s constituency office, Bash Back reportedly released an action guide outlining how supporters could carry out similar attacks, evade police detection, damage property, and steal equipment while documenting the acts.

A security memo noted, “Given the first attack was on the office of a HM Government minister, it is almost certain the group responsible will be investigated by security services.”
