WASHINGTON, DC: Social media went into a frenzy when President Joe Biden joked about Boeing, highlighting recent safety concerns with Boeing planes. His remark, however, sparked a wave of criticism and mockery.

Adding to the scrutiny, Biden recently faced backlash for handing Speaker Mike Johnson a letter announcing the dismissal of Martin Dickman, the inspector general of the US Railroad Retirement Board.

This decision was made after a thorough investigation by the independent Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency. They started looking into things back in January 2023 when some accusations were made against Dickman.

Joe Biden jokes about Boeing during fundraiser

According to the New York Post, President Biden recently cracked a joke about avoiding the doors on Air Force One, the presidential plane made by Boeing. This jest came amid a string of mishaps involving Boeing aircraft.

During a $25 million fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall, CBS 'Late Show' host Steven Colbert quizzed Biden about whether he had Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg check the bolts on Air Force One before heading to New York City.

Biden replied, “I don’t sit by the door. I’m only kidding. I shouldn’t joke about that."

Air Force One, one of two customized Boeing 747-200Bs, stands by its title of President's plane. However, Boeing faced scrutiny since January after a door blowout incident mid-flight on a Boeing 737 Max 9 operated by Alaska Airlines.

The terrifying incident forced the Federal Aviation Administration to ground all Boeing 737 Max 9 planes for weeks. According to the New York Post, the National Transportation Safety Board's early investigation discovered that bolts were missing from the rear door of the Alaska Airlines jet.
