WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden, 81, has been under scrutiny following reports of cognitive decline, with sources close to him suggesting these issues are far from isolated incidents, as per New York Post.

Renowned journalist Carl Bernstein, known for his role in uncovering the Watergate scandal, revealed these claims during a CNN interview with Anderson Cooper. According to Bernstein, Biden's closest allies have witnessed numerous episodes of mental lapses over the past year.

"These are people, several of them who are very close to President Biden, who loved him, have supported him, and among them are some people who would raise a lot of money for him," Bernstein stated, underscoring the credibility and concern of these observations.

The journalist described Biden's recent debate performance with former President Donald Trump as a "horror show" and suggested it was indicative of ongoing cognitive challenges.

Bernstein emphasized that this pattern of behavior has been noticed by many within Biden’s inner circle, including some reporters.

"They are adamant that what we saw the other night, the Joe Biden we saw, is not a one-off, that there have been 15, 20 occasions in the last year and a half when the president has appeared somewhat as he did in that horror show that we witnessed," Bernstein said.

He pointed out that the frequency of these episodes has raised alarm among Biden's supporters and advisors.

Bernstein shared an incident from a year ago at a fundraiser at the Four Seasons restaurant on Park Avenue, where Biden became "very stiff and a chair had to be brought for him to do the latter part of the event."

Bernstein claimed that concerned individuals have repeatedly brought these issues to the attention of Ron Klain, Biden's former White House chief of staff, only to be dismissed.

“We have a problem such as we saw the other night. There have been numerous incidences where the president has lost his train of thought, can’t pick it up again,” Bernstein relayed from his sources.

Despite the reassurances from Biden's supporters during his more coherent moments, the inconsistency of his cognitive state has led to increasing demands for clarity about his health.
