NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On the Friday, June 28, episode of MSNBC's 'Morning Joe', host Joe Scarborough's stance on Joe Biden underwent a significant shift. Within just three months, he turned from an ardent supporter of Biden to a critic following the president's disastrous debate performance.

The host's sudden change in stance comes after he said in March, "The President is sharper than ever. F**k you if you don’t agree with me", as per a post on X.

But now, after the first presidential debate, Scarborough said, "Can he even run for President in 2024? The President couldn’t even respond to a single ‘lie'."

Joe Scarborough criticizes Donald Trump's repeated falsehoods and Joe Biden's performance

Scarborough provided a critical analysis of President Joe Biden's performance in the debate against former President Donald Trump, expressing frustration with Biden's inability to effectively counter Trump's statements and handle the pressure of the confrontation.

"Can he run for president in 2024?" Scarborough said about Biden.

"Donald Trump lied over and over and over and over again. And Joe Biden couldn't respond to any of those lies. In fact, as the New York Times said, he spent much of the night with his mouth agape and eyes darting back and forth."

The monologue continued with Scarborough detailing Biden's missed opportunities. "He couldn't in fact check anything Donald Trump said and not only that, he missed one layup after another after another," the 'Morning Joe' host remarked.

One of the most significant points Scarborough raised was Biden's handling of Trump's actions related to American democracy, stating, "He couldn't respond effectively to Donald Trump trying to overthrow American democracy on Jan 6, he couldn't respond effectively to Donald Trump's continued stream of lies, and he couldn't even respond effectively on the issue of abortion."

Joe Scarborough questions whether Joe Biden is capable of a second term

Elsewhere during the segement, Scarborough in his review of the June 27 debate questioned whether Biden was fit to run a second term in office.

"If he were CEO and performed like that, would any corporation keep him?"

As per Forbes, he criticized Biden for failing to fact-check Trump and missing opportunities, particularly on issues like abortion, where Biden's response pivoted to a story about a woman raped by an undocumented migrant in response to a question on abortion policy.

This response, Scarborough argued, highlighted that Biden's struggles in effectively addressing critical issues that are focal points in his campaign against Trump.

According to Axios, Biden is a devoted viewer of 'Morning Joe' and maintains a close relationship with Scarborough.

People familiar with the situation noted that Biden is highly attuned to the program, with his aides also closely monitoring it, as they recognize its influence on his perspective on various issues.
