LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Democratic National Convention (DNC) wrapped up its four-day run in Chicago on Thursday night with a blend of electrifying speeches, lively performances, and fervent crowds.

Yet, amid the celebrations and endorsements, one notable group was conspicuously absent: Palestinian Americans critical of the US-backed war in Gaza.

Jon Stewart slams DNC for ignoring Palestinian voices

Jon Stewart took to 'The Daily Show' to critique this omission, delivering a biting commentary on the convention’s selective inclusivity.

“They had Black Americans! Hispanic Americans! Asian Americans! Gay Americans! Jewish Americans! Palestinian Ame— oh…” Stewart remarked with a sarcastic edge, highlighting the lack of representation for Palestinians.

His audience responded with groans of agreement. “Well, to be fair, it was only four nights, eight hours a night.”

Stewart’s critique didn’t stop at the exclusion of Palestinian voices. He lambasted the convention's focus on its own brand of joy and unity, juxtaposing it with the serious consequences of US policy in Gaza.

“Oh, it was joyful — for a convention,” Stewart quipped, referencing the celebratory tone set by speakers like former President Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.

“I know what real joy looks like because I’ve watched Oprah on her show. You thought people were happy to see her endorse Kamala Harris, you should see what they do when she gives them lipliner.”

In his segment, Stewart also took aim at Fox News pundits who had been dismissive of the DNC’s events.

He aired a montage of Fox hosts’ critical comments, including Jesse Watters’ claim that the opening night was “probably the most boring scene I’ve ever seen in my entire life.” Stewart responded with mock enthusiasm, “Ooooh, so boring,” poking fun at Watters’ view.

As the week progressed, even Fox News had to concede the convention’s success, despite their ongoing critiques.

Stewart highlighted this irony, saying, “But unfortunately for Jesse Knievel over here, the next night even Fox had to acknowledge, ‘fire emoji, fire emoji, fire emoji.’”

He then played another montage of Fox hosts begrudgingly admitting that Tuesday’s events were more engaging, though they continued to criticize the Democrats for focusing too much on “the vibes” rather than substantive issues.
