INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA: Angel Reese attacked Caitlin Clark and her squad after the Indiana Fever defeated the Chicago Sky on Sunday, June 16, saying that because of Clark's fame, she and her team received preferential treatment.

In another intensely contested physical match, officials concluded that Reese's swinging arm, which touched Clark's head as she attempted to block the Fever star from shooting, constituted "unnecessary contact" and a flagrant foul 1.

The surge in popularity of women's basketball has impacted both Clark and Reese's careers, with Clark receiving more recognition than Reese for the newfound attention.

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark reignite rivalry with flagrant-one foul

In an intensely competitive game, Caitlin Clark drove to the hoop in an attempt to increase the Fever's advantage by one point in the third quarter. Isabelle Harrison deflected the Clark's shot as she went up for the layup.

Reese tried the block from behind as well. However, she completely missed the ball and swung her forearm onto Clark's head.

Despite the foul being considered excessive rather than unwarranted because Reese's arm was swinging from a standard basketball move, she was not sent off the court.

Thus, the Sky-Fever game on Sunday marked their second professional basketball matchup. Indiana has prevailed in both meetings, most recently on Sunday 91-83, per Daily Mail.

Reese declared, "I think we were playing really hard. I think we went up really strong a lot of times and we didn't get a lot of calls."

"And going back and looking at the film, I've seen a lot of calls that weren't made. I guess some people got a special whistle," Reese added.

Reese was given a flagrant 1 for the foul. Clark, meanwhile, looked shaken up but managed to stand with the assistance of her teammates.

Caitlin Clark dismissed any malevolent intent from Angel Reese

Regarding the incident, Clark took no offense and did not hold Reese accountable for hitting her head.

In response to a question concerning her thoughts following the contact, Clark stated: "What's going through my mind is I gotta make these two free throws. That's all I'm thinking about."

"It's just part of basketball. It is what it is. She's trying to make a play on the ball and get the block. Yeah, it happens," Clark explained.

Clark finished with 23 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds, almost achieving a triple-double. Even though Reese faced Clark with 11 points and 13 rebounds, she refused to give up.

Reese would be fined for disparaging the officiating, just like in any other professional sports league. Her remarks poke fun at Clark and her group while avoiding a direct offense.

Reese and Clark won't have to wait long to square off again with the third Fever-Sky game of the season taking place next Sunday, June 23.

Internet condemns Angel Reese for being 'jealous of Caitlin Clark'

Social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to lambast the Chicago Sky star, as one user said, "These girls are so jealous of caitlin clark it’s pathetic"

Another remarked, "If “unlikeable” was a person, she’d be Angel Reese."

"The best part about this conference is that Clark keeps beating Angel Reese's team over and over again," said one more.

Another added, "Never seen her not have an excuse or find something wrong with the game after a loss Sore loser"

"Is anybody going to step in and teach these young woman how to be professionals? The s**t is embarrassing across the board," exclaimed a user.
