NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Talk show host Jon Stewart expressed frustration at how President Joe Biden and Donald Trump handled themselves during the presidential debate on Thursday, June 27.

‘The Daily Show’ host could not contain his disappointment with Biden fumbling on certain questions about Medicare and Roe v Wade nor could he appreciate Trump’s responses.

In his monologue, exasperated by what he watched during the debate, Stewart suggested he would need ‘recreational drugs’ to deal with the debacle. He also suggested both Biden and Trump have some 'performance-enhancing drugs' as well for ‘lucidity’.

Jon Stewart jokes about Joe Biden's debate performance amid raspy voice and stumbles

As per BBC, the president entered the debate with a low threshold to surpass, but he faltered. His delivery was flat, his speech meandering, and his points unclear.

Around halfway through the debate, the Biden campaign attributed his raspy voice to a cold, which might be true, but it also came off as an excuse.

Stewart noted Biden's primary objective for the debate was to appear youthful and not have any senior moments, highlighting a moment when Biden seemed confused while responding about Medicare, as per The Daily Beast.

He added, “OK, a high-pressure situation. A lot of times you can confuse saving Medicare with beating it. I’m sure it’s not something that repeated throughout the debate, causing Democrats across the country to either jump out of windows or vomit silently into the nearest recycling bin.”

Stewart grimaced as he observed Biden's reactions to Trump's remarks, acknowledging it wasn't a strong showing.

"Not great," Stewart remarked with a wince, trying to lighten the mood with a quip. "A lot of people have resting 25th Amendment face."

It is noteworthy to mention that Biden's former communications director, Kate Bedingfield, appeared on CNN immediately after the debate and bluntly stated, "There's no two ways about it, that was not a good debate for Joe Biden."

Jon Stewart frustrated as Joe Biden veers off course on Roe v Wade

Jon Stewart's frustration intensified as he highlighted Joe Biden's handling of the Roe v Wade topic, which he considered "Trump’s weakest issue."

However, Biden's response veered into a rambling discourse about immigration, which Trump promptly capitalized on.

Defeated, Stewart quipped, "So how do we do this now? Do I take [Trump’s] car back to the White House tonight?"

The one silver lining for Stewart was that Biden’s performance dispelled the ongoing GOP conspiracy that the President would take some form of medication before the debate.

However, it also led Stewart to consider that perhaps performance-enhancing drugs wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all.

“Let me just say, after watching tonight’s debate, both of these men should be using performance-enhancing drugs. I’m sorry, both. As much of it as they can get, as many times a day as their bodies will allow. If performance-enhancing drugs will improve their lucidity, their ability to solve problems, and in one of the candidates’ cases, improve their truthfulness, morality, and malignant narcissism, then suppository away," he said.

Stewart tore up his stack of papers in frustration, concluding his monologue with, "And by the way, if those drugs don't exist, if there aren't actually performance-enhancing drugs for these candidates, I could sure use some recreational ones right now. Because this just feels too surreal to be real life."
