ATLANTA, GEORGIA: A county probate judge has reportedly been dismissed from her chair after it was discovered that she “exhibited a pattern of judicial misconduct while in office.”

Christina Peterson’s removal came just a few days after she was arrested outside the Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge in Atlanta for her alleged violent behavior with a cop, the New York Post reported.

Judge Christina Peterson faced several allegations

However, the decision taken against Judge Peterson by the Georgia Supreme Court did not determine her expulsion. The court has also banned her from presiding over any judicial office in the state for seven years.

Reports have said that she became Douglas County Probate Judge in December 2020 but failed to work ethically.

There were a plethora of accusations and misconducts against Peterson, which were brought in by the Judicial Qualifications Commission, and following a probe, she was found worthy of getting disciplined.

According to AP, one of the disturbing accusations against the 38-year-old judge was she falsely held a woman in criminal contempt and awarded her a maximum of 20 days behind bars and a fine “without explanation or justification".

The woman, however, just wanted to fix a mistake on her marriage certificate.

The hearing panel concluded that Peterson’s actions “did not demonstrate the decorum and temperament required of a judge”.

Judge Christina Peterson was arrested for alleged violence

As the panel was looking into her allegations, Judge Christina Peterson was taken into custody last week on charges of simple battery against a police officer and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

However, her lawyer Marvin Arrington Jr reportedly said, “As the investigation continues to unfold and more facts come to light, we believe that Judge Christina Peterson will be completely exonerated of these charges.”

Netizens say Judge Christina Peterson ‘deserves’ the punishment

Meanwhile, people online have also slammed Judge Christina Peterson. A reader wrote in the comments section of the New York Post article, “I don't think she has a flagrant disregard for the law, I just think she has no clue about the law at all. It's like a pilot that keeps crashing. He's not disregarding FAA rules, he just doesn't know how to fly.”

Another reader commented, “Peterson was also caught doing several other violations of her oath. She was the least experienced judge in 2021 when she first busted on the scene. one of the highest-paid probate judges, pocketing all fees in cases of death certificates and birth certificates, totaling 280k. She also jailed a woman who tried to fix her marriage license application.”

“Instead held the woman in contempt of court, for lying to the court, ordered her held, and forced her hubby to pay 500 dollars just to have the court release her. All she tried to do was fix her father's name on the application, because when she was married she did not know her father's name, was raised by her uncle. Peterson just was hit with a heavy dose of karma.  Good, she is booted off the bench. Now she can be a drunkard all she likes,” they added.

One person shared, “In April it has been advised he'll be removed from her post. Her latest outburst only confirms she's not fit to be a judge.”

Another added, “Don't worry, Fani Willis will give her a top position in her administration.”

One individual commented, “She gets what she deserves she is there by her own design.”
