Justin Baldoni gets support from 'Jane the Virgin' co-stars as he speaks out on Blake Lively battle

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Justin Baldoni received public support from his former 'Jane the Virgin' co-stars Gina Rodriguez and Brett Dier after speaking out for the first time following his legal battle with Blake Lively. 

The actor and director, who had stayed mostly silent during the dispute, shared an emotional message alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni, after the case settled. Rodriguez and Dier showed their support in the comments, highlighting the long-standing bond they shared with Baldoni from their time working together.

After sharing a video reflecting on the difficult period, Baldoni’s longtime friends left supportive messages in the comments section of the Instagram video. Rodriguez shared her support by writing, "Love you friends. Por vida," while Dier commented, “I love you guys.” 

Their messages came after Justin and Emily opened up about the emotional toll of the past two years and explained why they chose to remain silent while the legal process continued.

Rodriguez and Dier had stood by Justin before his recent public comments about the legal dispute. Rodriguez previously shared a close friendship with Justin during an interview with PEOPLE, describing him as “my brother forever.”

Justin later reacted to Rodriguez’s kind words, explaining that her support arrived at an important moment for him. “They came at a very special time” and meant “a lot,” he said. Reflecting on Rodriguez’s gesture, he added, “She really showed up for me. That was really sweet.”

Back in 2025, Dier opened up about his friendship with Justin, while discussing the questions he had received about the actor’s legal situation.

In an interview for the Fan Mail newsletter, Dier said, “I probably shouldn’t say much, but I’ll say this: I always loved Justin. He’s always been an amazing friend to me.” Dier also shared that he hoped the matter would conclude soon, saying he was “just hoping everything resolves in time.”

Justin revealed that he and his wife Emily chose to remain quiet publicly for nearly two years because they wanted to speak at the right time. “So we have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years and it's not because we haven't had anything to say, because Lord knows we have,” he said.

The 42-year-old explained that they felt they needed to wait before making a statement: “But it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this we wanted to speak something was telling us not to. It just didn't feel like the right time and we were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it... And this feels like the moment.”

Emily admitted that finding the right words was challenging because there was “so much to say.” Justin added, “Gratitude has saved us.”
