WASHINGTON, DC: A new book claims former Vice President Kamala Harris' team ran a covert "dark-arts operation" to sabotage her top rivals for the vice presidency during former President Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.

According to 'FIGHT: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House', written by political journalists Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, Harris’ advisors went on the offensive behind the scenes as then-presidential candidate Biden narrowed down his list of running mates.

The book alleges Harris' allies leaked damaging intel on fellow contenders, including Susan Rice, Stacey Abrams, Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, all in a behind-the-scenes effort to secure her spot on the ticket, as reported by Fox News.

Kamala Harris' team allegedly sabotaged rivals for the VP slot

"We stabbed Karen Bass a little bit. We stabbed Susan Rice a little bit. We stabbed Stacey Abrams a little bit. We stabbed Gretchen Whitmer," a former advisor of Kamala Harris told Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes.

Bass, Rice, Abrams, and Whitmer were all considered strong contenders for the VP slot at the time. The book doesn’t provide exact details about the nature of the alleged sabotage, and it’s unclear whether any of the targets knew about the operation.

Ironically, most of them later publicly supported Harris—Bass, Whitmer, and Abrams even campaigned for her when she replaced Biden on the 2024 Democratic ticket.

The authors also reveal that Harris was blindsided by her defeat to President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, believing until the very end that her campaign was solid. Former President Barack Obama, according to the book, hesitated to endorse Harris after Biden stepped down, doubting her ability to win against Trump.

Kamala Harris faces backlash after book claims her advisors used 'dark-arts operation' to undermine VP rivals

One fumed, “How about ‘we stabbed the American public in the back’ with Harris’ method of undermining other candidates. Not the least being Joe Biden who could not see the big picture even if it was drawn out.”

Another added, “Not surprising this is all Kamala Harris could do, being a completely non-viable candidate on her own standing.”

Others took aim at the broader implications, “What a list of losers. Can u imagine Bass as VP or POTUS? I want to vomit. Joe and Jill chose poorly.”

“She’s not that clever,” one user said dismissively, while another wrote, “Wow what a list. Maybe America was better off with Harris after all.”

“Well thank goodness she did that or Trump would have been running against one of the other, much more competent, women!” another comment read.
