Kamala Harris warns of Donald Trump’s ‘increasingly unhinged’ behavior echoing concerns of fascism
WASHINGTON, DC: Kamala Harris delivered a stark warning about former president Donald Trump’s character following revelations from General John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff.
On Wednesday, October 23, the Vice President called Trump “incredibly dangerous” in light of comments he reportedly made praising Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
Donald Trump’s alleged praise of Adolf Hitler sparks concern
Kamala Harris addressed the press the day after The New York Times published audio recordings of Gen John Kelly, a retired four-star general, confirming that Donald Trump expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler’s generals while serving as president.
The former president allegedly said he wanted the same kind of loyalty from the US military, raising alarm over his intentions to use the military for personal purposes rather than to protect the Constitution.
“Donald Trump said that because he does not want a military that is loyal to the United States Constitution. He wants a military that is loyal to him,” stated Harris.
She warned that in a second term, the Republican presidential candidate would seek to command a military that would break the law and abandon its constitutional oath to serve his personal and political goals.
Kamala Harris says Donald Trump's ‘enemy from within’ remark highlights threat to democracy
Kamala Harris also condemned Donald Trump’s recent rhetoric, in which he referred to Americans who oppose him as “the enemy from within.”
She stressed that Trump’s definition of an "enemy" includes anyone who dares to criticize or stand against him—whether they are judges, journalists, or election officials.
“And let’s be clear about who he considers to be the enemy from within. Anyone who refuses to bend a knee or dares to criticize him would qualify, in his mind, as the enemy,” said Harris.
The Vice President repeatedly referred to Kelly’s remarks, in which the General described Trump as fitting the "general definition of a fascist."
She argued that Kelly's testimony provided a crucial window into who Trump truly is, coming from someone who worked closely with the former president in high-stakes situations.
“From the people who know him best, from the people who worked with him side by side in the Oval Office and in the Situation Room,” said Harris.
Kamala Harris says Donald Trump wants 'unchecked power'
With the election only days away, Kamala Harris framed the contest as a decisive moment for the future of the country.
"Donald Trump is increasingly unhinged and unstable and in a second term, people like John Kelly would not be there to be the guardrails against his propensities and his actions,” she said.
“The bottom line is this — we know what Donald Trump wants. He wants unchecked power,” said Harris.
“The question in 13 days will be, what do the American people want?” she added, according to Mediaite.
While the Vice President has stopped short of directly calling Trump a fascist herself, she has agreed with others who have.
Radio host Charlamagne tha God, for instance, described Trump’s actions as “fascism” in a recent interview, and Harris responded, “We can say that.”
