PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MARYLAND: Kamala Harris sparked yet another controversy while delivering a speech on Tuesday, December 17, to students in Prince George’s County, Maryland, alongside Maryland Governor Wes Moore.

The address marked one of her first public appearances following her defeat to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election according to radio WCBM.

Kamala Harris impresses herself during Maryland speech

Kamala Harris has largely stayed out of the spotlight following her election loss, however, her comments during her speech caught attention online.

During her speech, Harris posed a question to the audience while reflecting on challenges. “In the face of an obstacle, do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves?” she asked.

Her remarks then took a turn as she broke into laughter, saying, “And as we approach," Harris added breaking into laughter, “I ask you to remember the context in which you exist. Yeah, I did that."

The statement, particularly the phrase “context in which you exist,” became a focal point for criticism.

Collin Rugg, a Republican supporter while posting the clip said, "I must say, this was impressive," adding by saying this she "clearly impressed with herself."

Kamala Harris’ message follows controversial post-election video

Late last month, Kamala Harris released a video message to supporters in which she addressed her concession and reflected on the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.

“The outcome of this election obviously is not what we wanted. It is not what we worked so hard for. But I am proud of the race we ran, and your role in this was critical. What we did in 107 days was unprecedented,” Harris said.

She also offered words of encouragement despite the defeat. “I know that this is an uncertain time. I’m clear-eyed about that. I know you’re clear-eyed about it, and it feels heavy and I just have to remind you, don’t you ever let anybody take your power from you,”

Harris continued, “You have the same power that you did before November 5th, and you have the same purpose that you did. You have the same ability to engage and inspire. So don’t ever let anybody or any circumstances take your power from you.”

The video’s tone sparked mixed reactions, with critics accusing Harris of lacking clarity and direction.

Republicans and Internet react to Kamala Harris’ confusing remarks

Kamala Harris’ comments during Tuesday’s speech, although confusing to many were met with widespread backlash from Republicans and others on the internet

Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize her delivery and messaging. “We didn’t dodge a bullet, we dodged a nuke!” wrote one user.

One more commented, “Baffled by her own BS." Another added, "She should be forced to sit in a room alone and watch her own videos. She has the intelligence of dirt.”

Some critics referenced Harris’ campaign fundraising efforts. “Can someone remind her the context in which she exists, which was raising $1bn+ in defeat and losing it all,” another one.

Others mocked her delivery, with one person commenting, “At least she can impress someone."

One said, "Good grief! What a train wreck. We definitely dodged this bullet,” while another added, “She’s been drinking very, very heavily.”
