WASHINGTON, DC: Kamala Harris is still reportedly a favorite candidate of the Democrats for the 2028 presidential election.

An early 2028 primary poll conducted by Morning Consult showed the former vice president as the top contender. She received 36% support from Democratic and Democratic-leaning independent voters, as reported by The New York Post.

However, Harris is yet to reveal her intention for the next election after losing the 2024 election to President Donald Trump.

Gavin Newsom gets only 5% votes

After a crushing defeat in the 2024 election, the Democratic Party is now looking for a candidate who will lead the party in the 2028 presidential race. Surprisingly, Kamala Harris has emerged as the top contender according to the Morning Consult poll.

The result that came out on Friday, March 21, also showed former transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg as the second best choice as he got 10% support from his party.

The third position was claimed by three candidates, including a termed-out Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who was Harris’ 2024 running mate.

They all garnered 5% support in the Morning Consult poll. ‘Shark Tank’ star Mark Cuban and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro got 4% vote while New Jersey Senator Cory Booker received 3% support.

Other Democrats, like Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar all garnered 2% votes.

Kamala Harris' political future

This came after a Politico report revealed in November 2024 that Kamala Harris will not be fading away from politics. She has asked her advisers and allies “to keep her options open — whether for a possible 2028 presidential run, or even to run for governor in her home state of California in two years".

An ex-Harris campaign aide said, “She doesn’t have to decide if she wants to run for something again in the next six months. The natural thing to do would be to set up some type of entity that would give her the opportunity to travel and give speeches and preserve her political relationships.”

At the time, Paul Maslin, the Democratic pollster, had added, “There is no one — no one — who actually can relate to what she’s been through these last four months. No one. And I wouldn’t begrudge her at all to take some time and figure this out.”

Internet says Kamala Harris ‘stands zero chance’ in 2028 election

Many people online, however, expressed that Kamala Harris did not stand a chance in the 2028 presidential election, despite what the Morning Consult poll claimed.

One X user sarcastically tweeted, “😂 Is that all they have?”

The second user wrote, “This a joke?”

Another posted, “When you have no one else.😂”

“Yes please 🙏🏼 let her run again, this time against JD Vance. Would love to see that debate,” a critic commented.

Another said, “There won't be a Democratic Party in 2028.”

A tweet read, “Oh I’m sure 💀since she was totally elected for the nomination last time right? Oh wait-”

A person remarked, “Good luck trailer trash! Never gonna happen Trump will win 3rd term before she wins or better yet elon will win 🏆 she stands zero chance!”
