WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign on Saturday, July 27, replied to Donald Trump's remarks on democracy by stating that the former president wants to "take America backward".

On Friday, July 26, Trump reportedly told the crowd during the Turning Point event in Florida "You won’t have to do it anymore... It’ll be fixed. It’ll be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore." The statement received backlash as several labeled him a "dictator".

In reply to Donald Trump's remark at the rally, Kamala Harris' campaign wrote, "When Vice President Harris says this election is about freedom she means it. Our democracy is under assault by criminal Donald Trump: After the last election Trump lost, he sent a mob to overturn the results," Raw Story reported.

It further added, "This campaign, he has promised violence if he loses, the end of our elections if he wins, and the termination of the Constitution to empower him to be a dictator to enact his dangerous Project 2025 agenda on America."

It further continued, "Donald Trump wants to take America backward, to a politics of hate, chaos, and fear - this November America will unite around Vice President Kamala Harris to stop him."

During the Florida summit, Trump said, "You have to get out and vote. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four years and it will be fixed, and it will be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore. In four years, you won’t have to vote again."

He also appealed to the Christian voters by saying, "Christians, get out and vote. Just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four more years. You know what? It’ll be fixed! It’ll be fine! You won’t have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians. I love you, Christians. I am not Christian."

Last week, President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race and nominated Harris as his replacement.
