Kamala Harris slams Senate Republicans as they block another vote on IVF protection bill
WASHINGTON, DC: Senate Democrats' effort to pass the Right to IVF Act was blocked by the Republicans yet again!
On Tuesday, September 17, the legislation needed 60 votes to advance, however, it failed at 51-44.
What did Kamala Harris say about Senate Republicans voting against IVF Act?
Vice President Kamala Harris issued a statement after the blockage at the Senate, “Every woman in every state must have reproductive freedom. Yet, Republicans in Congress have once again made clear that they will not protect access to the fertility treatments many couples need to fulfill their dream of having a child.”
She continued, “Congressional Republicans’ repeated refusal to protect access to IVF is not an isolated incident. Extremist so-called leaders have launched a full-on attack against reproductive freedom across our country.”

Kamala Harris attacked her political rivals, saying, “In the more than two years since Roe v Wade was overturned, they have proposed and passed abortion bans that criminalize doctors and make no exception for rape or incest. They have also blocked legislation to protect the right to contraception and proposed four national abortion bans.”
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD), defended Republicans and called it “another show vote” by Democrats. He also vowed that “Republicans support IVF, full stop.”
“This is not an attempt to make law. This is not an attempt to get an outcome or to legislate. This is simply an attempt by Democrats to try and create a political issue where there isn’t one,” Thune said, per NBC News.

Chuck Schumer’s latest show vote – a bill the Senate has already rejected – is not a serious attempt to legislate or make law. It’s a political stunt, and he’s doing it as unfinished work is piling up in the Senate. pic.twitter.com/DtdAbDLLIo
Netizens slam Senate Republicans for blocking IVF Act
Internet attacked Republicans for blocking another vote on IVF protections. Many called out Donald Trump for his pro-IVF comments during a recent debate.
A person shared over X, "But didn’t Trump say he was a big fertilizer fan?"
"So much for that IVF support they claim to support huh?" another user slammed Republicans.
One user remarked, "It was literally a perfectly planned trap And guess what, MAGA still fell for it. So much for supporting IVF as a Trump campaign platform."
"Just takes a breath out of you doesn't it! This can't continue...," a concerned netizen expressed.
Another chimed in, "Sounds like we're going pre 1970's again in this country. Women have no rights."
"When Trump told the Senate to kill the border bill, they obliged. If he would have told them to pass IVF they would have. We know they will ban IVF given the opportunity," an online user felt.
"They're reminding Americans who not to vote for this November," inferred another individual.
