Senator John Thune mocked for raising concerns over Joe Biden's mental fitness
WASHINGTON, DC: John Thune, the number two Senate Republican, has expressed concerns regarding Joe Biden's mental fitness, following a report that has questioned the president's performance in meetings over recent years.
John said that he does not "disagree" with The Wall Street Journal’s report which cited numerous sources who have either attended meetings with Biden or been briefed on them.
The sources cited in the report were mostly Republican.
John Thune says there's a 'clear difference' between Joe Biden and Donald Trump
Speaking to a reporter about his concerns over Biden's mental acuity, Thune, the highest-ranking Senate Republican, said, “I don’t disagree. Obviously you all see it on a daily basis. … It’s an issue,” adding that there is a “clear difference” between Biden and former President Donald Trump.

“I make plenty of my own [gaffes], so I’m sympathetic to that, but I think that there is no question. You can just kind of look at the tape," he added.
Thune is considered a leading candidate to succeed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) as the head of the GOP conference.
The Wall Street Journal's report cited several instances when Biden relied on notes during meetings about aid for Ukraine.
The sources have also reported occasions when the president deferred questions to aides and struggled to be audible during his speech.

How old are Joe Biden and Donald Trump?
At 81, Biden is the oldest person to ever hold the presidency and throughout his term in office, his mental acuity has been a recurring issue.
Former President Trump, 77, previously the oldest person to hold office is 3 1/2 years younger than Biden.
However, during the presidential election campaign, Trump also showed signs of confusion.
The former president, who was recently found guilty in the hush money case, mixed up former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley (R) with former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in January, according to The Hill.
During a campaign rally in Virginia in March, he confused Biden with former President Barack Obama.
