Kamala Harris slams Trump’s State of the Union as ‘full of lies,’ mocks ‘show-and-tell’ tone
WASHINGTON, DC: Former Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday, February 25, strongly criticized President Donald Trump following his State of the Union address, calling the speech misleading and disconnected from the realities faced by many Americans.
Trump's address was a thorough overview of the administration’s accomplishments and policy direction during the first year of his second term. Trump speech ran approximately 1 hour and 48 minutes, making it the longest address delivered before a joint session of Congress in at least six decades.
Kamala Harris criticizes Trump’s State of the Union address
Harris delivered her remarks during an appearance on the podcast, 'The Parnas Perspective,' hosted by Aaron Parnas on his Substack show. Discussing Trump’s address, Harris said she watched the speech and described it as “full of lies.”
She remarked that when Trump was not lying, the address reminded her of “our kids going to show-and-tell at school,” suggesting that the speech lacked seriousness and substance.
According to Harris, the address failed to reflect the lived experiences of Americans, particularly those struggling with high prices, unaffordable health care, and unaffordable housing. She stated that there was “nothing that was true about really, how the American people right now, so many are suffering under the weight” of these pressures.
She further criticized the address as repetitive, saying it was "And, you know, some people have said it was really quite boring, and that there was nothing very interesting about it, because it was the same old, same old."
Harris concluded, "The guy lying about what he intends to do, what he has done, and the state of our economy and the state of the world.”
Trump touts transformation in State of the Union address
Trump delivered his first official State of the Union of his second term on Tuesday, February 26. The speech came at a time when the president and his party are navigating difficult political terrain, including low approval ratings.
In recent months, Trump has faced criticism over several issues, including his immigration agenda, affordability concerns, files linked to the convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein, and various foreign policy decisions.
During the address, Trump highlighted what he described as the successes of his second term while sharply criticizing Democrats across multiple issues. He opened the speech by praising what he called a major “transformation” of the United States under his leadership.
“I can say with dignity and pride that we have achieved a transformation like no one has ever seen before, and a turnaround for the ages,” Trump said, adding, “We will never go back to where we were just a short time ago.”
Harris has consistently been floated as a potential 2028 presidential contender, following a whirlwind campaign against Trump that ultimately saw his return to the White House, though she has not definitively said whether she will run.
