WASHINGTON, DC: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 27, opened up about her 32-year age gap with husband Nicholas Riccio, 59. The couple tied the knot in January, just days before President Donald Trump's second inauguration, and have had a whirlwind romance. 

Their journey began in 2022 when Leavitt was running for Congress in New Hampshire, and by Christmas 2023, they were engaged. 

The pair welcomed their son, Nicholas Robert Riccio, affectionately known as Niko, on July 10, 2024. Reflecting on their relationship, Leavitt praised her husband's kindness, support, and unwavering encouragement of all her endeavors, despite the age difference.

In a recent interview on 'The Megyn Kelly Show', White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt opened up about her relationship with her husband Nicholas Riccio.

She gushed, "He is my greatest supporter, he's my best friend and he's my rock. He's built a very successful business himself so now he's fully supportive of me building my success in my career."

Leavitt reminisced about the couple’s first meeting, recalling, "A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband. I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends. And then we fell in love.”

When pressed by Kelly about their age gap, Leavitt admitted she initially had some reservations. However, she confidently stated, "I mean it's a very atypical love story but he's incredible."

She went on to highlight her husband’s dedication to their family, saying, "He's the father of my child and he's the best dad I could ever ask for. And he is so supportive, especially during a very chaotic period of life. I say, ‘I walked into your life and it's been a circus ever since,’ but God bless him because he's fully on board."

Leavitt also shared that while Riccio, a successful businessman, is incredibly supportive of her career, she doesn’t feel the need to showcase him on social media.

Karoline Leavitt returns to Trump campaign days after giving birth

Just days after giving birth, Karoline Leavitt decided to return to work on the Trump campaign, citing the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump as a driving factor.

In an October 2024 interview with The Conservateur, she explained, "I looked at my husband and said, looks like I’m going back to work.”

She went on to say, “I felt compelled to be present in this historic moment. The president literally put his life on the line to win this election. The least I could do is get back to work quickly."

 Leavitt, who is the youngest press secretary in White House history at 27, also shared insights into her relationship with her husband, revealing that while he is an introvert, as per PEOPLE.

“He's an introvert (complete opposite of me). I respect his privacy on here—but he's my number one fan, the best dad, and just the best man I've ever met,” she told her followers.

In a more personal post on Monday, March 12, Leavitt shared a series of wedding photos on Instagram. The carousel of intimate moments from her special day was accompanied by a heartfelt caption: “Finally found some time to post a few of my favorite pictures from one of my favorite days! 😌🤍✨💍”
