Karoline Leavitt appears at briefing without her cross necklace after Jon Stewart's scathing on-air roast

WASHINGTON, DC: Karoline Leavitt showed up to her latest White House press briefing without her signature cross necklace, just days after comedian Jon Stewart roasted her for it on national TV.
On Tuesday, June 3, the White House Press Secretary stepped up to the podium dressed in a sharp, long-sleeved navy blazer with gold buttons, a matching blue skirt, and sleek, pointed black heels. But her signature gold cross necklace—a piece she’s worn so regularly—was nowhere to be seen, the Daily Mirror reported.

Earlier in the week, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart had gone in on Leavitt and aimed straight at her now-missing accessory.
"By the way, I think that the more she [Karoline] lies, the bigger her cross gets. Is that possible? It’s like some sort of weird Pinocchio cross,” Stewart joked on air.
Jon Stewart goes for the jugular
During his segment, the 62-year-old comedy legend also fired off one of the harshest reads yet on Leavitt’s role in President Donald Trump’s circle.
"The only one who’s going to come out of there unscathed is Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Because I don’t think that she has any principles in there left to die!” he said.
But then he took a step back. "I’m not even upset with this lady. Because just rolling with the punches is clearly the only strategy for happiness when you’re working for Trump,” he added.
Of course, Stewart didn’t let Trump off easy either. "Trump’s very open secret has always been: He doesn’t believe in or care about any policy issue at all. He wants attention, he wants his ego stroked, and he wants money. He wants f---wads and f---wads of money," he quipped.
Karoline Leavitt trolled on social media
It wasn't just Jon Stewart who noticed Karoline Leavitt show up cross-free at the White House podium. Critics on social media also had a lot to say.
"Anyone notice Karoline Leavitt wasn't wearing her signature Gold Cross chain today? It was a s—t show," one posted on X.
"Christian, yet a compulsive liar....anyone else see the paradox?" another asked.
"My Faith is so important to me. I need forgiveness for my many lies," someone else quipped.

Karoline Leavitt's previous comments about her faith
While the public debated her faith, Karoline Leavitt’s spiritual life is something she’s been vocal about for years.
In a March sit-down with CBN News, she got candid about how deeply religion shapes her day-to-day.
"My faith is incredibly important to me, I would argue, now more than ever, being in a role that is very demanding and at times controversial, and there's a lot of public pressure and discussion online about who you are and your family,” she said, before adding, “And you know, it could be difficult for someone who doesn't have faith, but with faith, all things are possible."

In fact, she leans on her faith before every single press briefing.
"I think that team prayer before is just a moment to be silent and still and ask God for confidence and the ability to articulate my words, knowledge, prayer, protection, and it is a nice moment to reset. It's the last thing I do before I go out there, and then it just gives me the confidence to do a briefing," she added.
