WASHINGTON, DC: The bitter fallout between President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk reached new heights this week, as White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made it unequivocally clear that the administration is not backing down.

In a sharp public message, Leavitt aligned herself squarely with the president, brushing aside Musk’s increasingly personal attacks, including an eyebrow-raising accusation that Trump is mentioned in the Epstein files.

Tensions flared after Elon Musk vocally criticized Donald Trump’s much-hyped “One Big Beautiful Bill”. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO slammed the bill as “a disgusting abomination.”

Trump, however, remained adamant that the bill represents a historic win, boasting $1.6 trillion in cuts and branding it as the “biggest tax cut ever.”

Leavitt entered the fray with a pointed show of support. Sharing Trump’s Truth Social post where he wrote, “I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It's a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that.”

The president also added, “I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted,” the White House Press Secretary said in a statement to the Daily Mail. “The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again.”

President Trump added fuel to the fire by attributing the billionaire's sudden outburst to what he termed “Trump Derangement Syndrome”.

Addressing reporters from the Oval Office, Trump remarked, “He’s not the first,” adding, “People leave my administration, and they love us, and then at some point they miss it so badly. Some of them embrace it, and some of them actually become hostile. I don’t know what it is. It’s sort of ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome,’ I guess they call it.”

“They leave, and they wake up in the morning, and the glamour is gone. The whole world is different, and they become hostile,” he said. “I don’t know what it is.”

Speaking alongside German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during a joint press appearance at the White House, Donald Trump directly addressed Elon Musk’s recent social media attacks on his administration’s saying, “Elon is upset because we took the EV mandate, which was a lot of money for electric vehicles, and they're having a hard time, the electric vehicles. And they want us to pay billions of dollars in subsidy. And, you know, Elon knew this from the beginning. He knew it for a long time ago.”

The president also spoke about a behind-the-scenes disagreement with Elon Musk, revealing that Musk had pushed for a close friend to be appointed as NASA administrator.

“I know that disturbed him. He wanted, rightfully, he recommended somebody from that he, I guess, knew very well. I'm sure he respected him, but to run NASA, and I didn't think was appropriate. And he happened to be a Democrat, like totally Democrat. And I say, you know, we won. We get certain privileges, and one of the privileges we don't have to appoint a Democrat. NASA is very important. We have great people,” Trump said.

“I’m right about the Big Beautiful Bill,” he added, “We call it a great Big Beautiful Bill because that's what it is. And again, biggest tax cuts in history, biggest economic development moves anywhere. We've never done anything like it.”

Donald Trump responded to Elon Musk’s recent comments with a note of disappointment, saying, “I've always liked Elon, and I was very surprised. You saw the words he had for me, the words, and he hasn't said anything about me that's bad. I'd rather have him criticize me than the bill because the bill is incredible. It's the biggest cut in the history of our country. We've never cut— it's about 1.6 trillion in cuts.”
