WASHINGTON, DC: FBI Director Kash Patel said on Sunday, April 19, that arrests could soon be made in connection with what he described as a “de facto coup” against President Donald Trump.

Speaking in a televised interview, Patel claimed investigators now have sufficient evidence and are working with the Department of Justice to move forward with charges.

The remarks, made during an appearance on 'Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo', come amid ongoing political tensions over alleged misconduct within US federal agencies. However, no official documents or evidence have yet been made public, and authorities have not confirmed the scope of any impending arrests.

Patel claims arrests soon

Patel said federal investigators have gathered key information and are coordinating closely with prosecutors, including Attorney General Todd Blanche, to pursue legal action.

We have found all this information. We are working with our Department of Justice partners, and I am never going to let this go,” Patel said.

“They not only have personally attacked the presidency of the United States and President Trump, but they tried to thwart our elections and rig the entire system.”

He further stated, “We’ve got all the evidence. I can announce on your show that we’ve got all the information we need. We’re working with our prosecutors at the Department of Justice and their Attorney General, Todd Blanche, and we are going to be making arrests, and it’s coming, and I promise you, it’s coming soon.”Patel did not specify a timeline for the arrests or outline the exact charges that may be filed.

High-level figures under scrutiny

Patel suggested that multiple senior officials could face legal consequences, indicating that former FBI Director James Comey would not be the only individual implicated.

While he did not provide additional names, Patel’s comments pointed to what he described as a broader network of officials allegedly involved in undermining the presidency and the US electoral process. The lack of publicly available evidence or formal indictments, however, leaves the claims unverified at this stage.

The statements echo long-standing allegations from Trump allies about a so-called “deep state” within federal agencies accused of targeting political opponents. These claims have been a recurring theme in political discourse in recent years but remain a subject of debate and investigation.

Patel reiterated his commitment to reshaping the FBI’s priorities, stating that the agency should return to its “core mission” of combating crime rather than engaging in political disputes. As of now, the Department of Justice has not issued an official statement confirming imminent arrests or providing further details on the investigation.
