LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kevin Costner’s split from Christine Baumgartner has been anything but smooth, but it seems like the drama has opened up a new creative outlet for the actor-turned-musician.

According to sources from Life & Style, the Hollywood hunk is channeling his frustration into a new revenge song about his ex-wife — whom he allegedly sees as a "gold digger."

“He’s got quite a musical following, and people will be interested to know his heart hasn’t healed,” a source revealed.

Kevin, 69, is the frontman of the band Kevin Costner & Modern West. He has found an outlet in music to release "a ton of built-up angst” from the breakup. “This is his chance to let off some steam and share his two cents without coming across as a total jerk," the insider added.

Kevin Costner's revenge song amid divorce drama

This comes after the ugly unraveling of Kevin Costner’s marriage to Christine — a model and handbag designer — which officially began when she filed for divorce in May 2023. The couple had been married since September 2004, but their split quickly turned into a courtroom battle that dragged on for months.

Things finally settled in February, but not before some serious legal drama that played out in public.

When Christine filed for divorce, she asked for a whopping $248,000 a month in child support. She claimed the amount was necessary to maintain the lifestyle their three children had grown accustomed to. Kevin, on the other hand, wasn’t having it. He shot back saying her request was way too high and was meant to sustain her lavish lifestyle, not just the kids.

As the financial tug-of-war continued, Christine refused to leave the family home until a judge ordered her to vacate the property. Despite the tension, however, she didn’t seem too bothered. She was even spotted lounging on a Hawaiian beach with her children and financier Josh Connor, who just so happens to be a former neighbor of Kevin and Christine.

When the dust finally settled, Kevin was ordered to pay $63,209 a month in child support—not quite the $248,000 Christine was after, but still a hefty sum. Christine also had to cough up $14,000 to cover a portion of Kevin’s legal fees. Now, Kevin is reportedly focusing on his music as a way to process everything that’s happened.

“He takes his songwriting very seriously, and he’s got a lot of things to get off his chest,” the Life & Style source said. Kevin is still fuming about Christine’s actions during the divorce.

“She threw him under the bus, hooked up with his now-former friend, and tried to take his house and take him to the cleaners,” the insider dished.

The betrayal still stings. “A guy doesn’t forget stuff like that,” the source continued. “He still feels like he’s been kicked in the gut. Kevin’s not the kind of guy to kiss and tell, but putting it to words and music is about as close to a tell-all as he’s going to get.”

Financial struggles and the Horizon project

While Kevin Costner works through his personal life, he’s also dealing with some financial challenges—thanks in part to his ambitious movie project, 'Horizon: An American Saga.' According to a separate source who spoke to Life & Style, the struggles with Horizon have left Kevin facing a $100 million bill.

The project, which he largely funded by leveraging undeveloped land he owns in California, hasn’t performed as well as he hoped.

“Kevin banked Horizon largely, but not entirely, on his California land, and reality is starting to set in,” the insider explained. “He’s likely going to have to part with this real estate and also reshuffle his other holdings to remain solvent after the disappointing showing of the first film in this saga.”

“Kevin is re-organizing his life, his finances, and his possessions around funding the Horizon project for a couple of more years,” they added. “He’s operating on a wing and a prayer but he’s also a realist who knows he’s going to have to part with some of his treasure to see this thing through to the end.”
