LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Media personality and socialite Khloe Kardashian recently recalled a frightening experience from her only visit to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, revealing that she unknowingly consumed a spiked 'juice' during the event nearly a decade ago.
Speaking on her podcast 'Khloe in Wonderland' on Wednesday, May 6, the reality star shared details about the incident after being asked by a viewer whether she had ever attended the music festival, saying the experience left her terrified and deeply shaken.
Khloe Kardashian reflects on her only Coachella festival visit experience
Kardashian said she attended the desert festival only once and estimated that it happened around 2016. Reflecting on the incident, she explained that she did not believe someone intentionally targeted her, but rather that she unknowingly consumed a drink containing unknown substances while surrounded by people who were openly consuming them.
She said, "I've gone once- it was many moons ago, I feel like 2016, or something like that.” The 41-year-old explained how the substances entered her system, saying, “I don't think anyone” spiked my drink, Kardashian said.
She continued, “I just think I was the dumb one and didn't realize that everyone was under the influence. And I remember drinking this drink and just feeling really crazy- no one wants to feel like that and not know why they're like that.”
The youngest of the three Kardashian sisters described the experience as deeply unsettling, admitting that attending the festival while feeling disoriented “wasn't the best experience.” She added that people around her appeared aware that she was impaired even though she did not initially understand what was happening.
“I got spiked without me knowing, but I think everyone knew,” said Kardashian. At one point during the festival, she hid in a bathroom for hours and recalled that other attendees became angry because she would not leave the restroom.
“I just didn't realize what was happening until after it happened, like, that I was under the influence and everyone was yelling at me because I wouldn't get out of the bathroom,” Khloe Kardashian explained. The Los Angeles native said the ordeal left her emotionally overwhelmed, “I was in my head; I was so scared, so my experience was not good.”
Khloe Kardashian opens up about past DUI arrest and jail experience
During the same podcast episode, Kardashian also reflected on her past legal troubles following her arrest in Los Angeles in March 2007 at the age of 22 in connection with driving under the influence. She admitted that at the time she did not fully understand the seriousness of the situation or realize it could eventually lead to jail time.
Kardashian said, “I didn't know I was going to go to jail because of that, cause it was my very first offense. Yes, I knew I was in trouble, and I was like, ‘I just can't have my mom find out’ - but I had no idea that arrest would lead to me going to jail.”
She also acknowledged not thinking carefully about the consequences at the time, “I don’t think I was really thinking too hard about it, which sounds so silly."
Recalling her arrest, Kardashian said, “When you get arrested on the weekend, you can’t get out until Monday. They can’t process you until a weekday. So, I was in a holding cell with 23 other women besides me.” She ultimately served a few hours in jail in July 2008 in Lynwood, California, after violating probation.
She received an early release because of overcrowding. Reflecting on the experience, she said: “I had to turn myself in, because I had to serve 30 days in jail, which I didn’t do all 30 days, and that was much scarier, because thinking I was gonna spend 30 days in jail wasn’t anything I thought about.”
