NOGALES, ARIZONA: Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem held a press conference at the southern border, thanking federal officers for their work and asserting that enforcement efforts under Donald Trump have reshaped conditions on the ground. Speaking alongside Border Patrol personnel, Noem said the administration’s first year back in office has produced what she called the strongest border posture in US history.

Her remarks focused on crediting frontline agents and highlighting what she said was a noticeable decline in activity in the area.

Noem thanks border enforcement officers

Noem expressed appreciation for what she described as the “brave men and women enforcing the law” at the Department of Homeland Security, framing current conditions as a result of sustained operational work by agents stationed along the border.

The Secretary positioned the improvements as a collective effort, repeatedly referencing the role of officers responsible for day-to-day enforcement.

Claims most secure border in history

Noem said that in President Trump’s first year back in office, the administration has delivered “the most secure border in American history.

She argued that conditions have changed significantly compared to previous years.

“It is so quiet here now today that sometimes we even forget how bad it was just a little over a year ago,” she said, describing the shift as both visible and immediate.

Biden era called humanitarian crisis

During the briefing, Noem contrasted the present situation with what she described as conditions under the Biden administration. She labeled that period “the greatest humanitarian crisis that we had ever seen in our history.”

She said the challenges at the time required a different approach and linked the current strategy to restoring order and control along the border.

Credits Trump for decisive leadership

Noem concluded by thanking Trump directly for what she described as clear leadership on border policy. She said he “told the American people what we needed,” adding that the administration followed through on those priorities.
