Kristin Cavallari reveals why she 'walked away' from marriage to ex Jay Cutler after his DUI arrest
FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE: Kristin Cavallari has opened up about the breakdown of her relationship with ex-husband Jay Cutler, stating that "my heart broke in my marriage," days after the former NFL quarterback was arrested for DUI in Tennessee.
The 'Laguna Beach' alum talked about her love life, and her breakups in particular, on the October 22 episode of her 'Let's Be Honest' podcast with her 2020 divorce being the primary topic of discussion.
The 41-year-old former football player recently made news after he was arrested for DUI. The father of three allegedly tried to pay back the owner of the car he rear-ended in Franklin, Tennessee, on October 18.
Cutler was also accused of "illegally possessing a weapon while intoxicated, implied consent and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision," per PEOPLE.

Kristin Cavallari, 37, recently opened up about her ex-husband's DUI arrest on her 'Let's Be Honest' podcast. They were married from 2013 to 2020, and their divorce was finalized in 2022.
The show began with Cavallari explaining that she recorded the episode "before a very public incident happened last week with my ex-husband." She also included a brief note regarding Cutler's incarceration.
Cavallari and Cutler had a turbulent relationship; they announced their separation in 2020 before their 2022 formal divorce. They are parents to three children: Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 8.
Detailing her split with the retired NFL player, Cavallari said, "My heart broke in my marriage. Even though I'm the one that walked away, it was not what I wanted. It was not what I had envisioned."
"And I really tried f***ing everything I could. It's just heartbreaking when you want something so badly but you just can't get there. And I would say my heart was broken for years in my marriage — I mean it was," she added, per People.
Cavallari continued by making it clear that she had no intention of disparaging her ex. "I'm not talking s**t about Jay at all. I'm really not. And I think, you know, I've publicly said some things," she said.
"And now I don't really talk about him at all, but I will say, we are in the best place that we've been in, and it's been 4.5 years [since the divorce] and it took four years," she added.
She said in the podcast that she "will not be commenting on what happened," yet added, "I do, of course, wish Jay nothing but the best and I do hope that he gets the help that he needs."

Kristin Cavallari reiterated her intention to keep a positive relationship with Cutler, saying, "I will say, we are in the best place that we've been in. And it's been four and a half years. It took four years."
"But things are really good with us now. So much so that we even sat together at one of Camden's basketball games recently, and that makes me so happy, because honestly, I never thought that we would get there. I really didn't," she added.
For listeners who might also be having trouble with an ex or co-parenting, Cavallari gave the example of the reparations she and Cutler had made.
"And if I tell you that Jay and I can get there, anyone can get there. Take my word on that. I wish I could give you guys all the stories, but I can't. Just trust me on that," the Uncommon James founder said.
Cavallari revealed earlier that she and Cutler had a revised custody arrangement. She said on her show, "Last fall, you know I was still doing split custody with my ex, and I had every other week off from my kids."
"And that's changed, and so I'm really happy and really content having my life, right now, being about my kids and work," she added, per Fox News.
Cavallari recently broke up with Montana Boyz star Mark Estes, her seven-month boyfriend, in September. Meanwhile, Cutler and Samantha Robertson have been linked since 2023. Although they have not addressed their romance in public, the couple made their Instagram debut in September 2023.
