LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: While Taylor Swift may support Kamala Harris for president, that hasn't stopped Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, from using a snippet of her music to promote her father-in-law's campaign.

On Wednesday, Lara, who is married to Trump's son Eric and serves as co-chair of the Republican National Committee, shared a video on Instagram that repurposes Swift’s song '22' into a campaign ad.

Donald Trump faces backlash for implying Taylor Swift's endorsement

On a related note, Donald Trump has previously faced criticism for seemingly suggesting he had Taylor Swift's endorsement before she expressed her support for Kamala Harris's bid for president last month.

He had posted altered images on social media showing the singer and her fans supposedly supporting him, accompanied by the message "I accept!"

Many of the images appeared to have been generated using artificial intelligence, prompting backlash from Swift's fans, known as Swifties, who accused Trump of spreading misinformation.

One of the images shared by Trump shows fans in t-shirts reading "Swifties for Trump," with a satirical headline that claimed, "Swifties turning to Trump after ISIS foiled Taylor Swift concert."

This post came after Swift canceled three concerts in Vienna due to a potential security threat, leading to police arrests related to an alleged attack inspired by the Islamic State group. Another photo Trump shared mimicked a World War One US army recruiting poster, featuring Swift's face and the slogan "Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump."

Social media users mock Lara Trump's video

Social media users had a field day mocking Lara Trump's recent video, with one user, "This looks like a really bad girl group video from 1989."

Another said, "As my daughters would say. … “cringe”."

One added, "Taylor, your attorneys are on line one."

One replied, "Not one of them will be able to tell you how tariffs work."

Another commented, "It makes me smile to see Lara Trump spending time on such foolish narcissism when she could be raising money for Republican down-ballot candidates instead."
