Lara Trump says she is being mocked for song 'Hero' as critics can't 'knock' her political achievements
WASHINGTON, DC: Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump has responded to critics of her recently released song 'Hero', stating that they are doing so as they couldn't fault her political contributions.
Lara, former president Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, sparked a barrage of vitriol and jeers on social media after releasing a song with singer Madeline Jaymes honoring first responders last month.

“All of those … anything I’ve done in a musical sense, has all been prior to my role in the RNC,” Trump said on Sunday, September 8, on NewsNation’s 'The Hill Sunday.'
She added, “The timing of things, of course, [is] very confident that people are trying to knock me for this. I’ve been very clear about what my job is. It is to win this election in 2024 for Donald Trump and Republicans all the way down the ticket.”
“I assume that they can’t knock me for fundraising as the co-chair of the RNC or for anything else that we’ve done,” she told NewsNation anchor Chris Stirewalt.
Lara paid tribute to first responders in 'Hero', singing, “Without your bravery we’re all out of luck / No this can’t be denied / You gotta be special.”
Lara Trump highlights Donald Trump's position regarding Kamala Harris
Lara Trump cited a recent survey conducted by Siena College and The New York Times, which showed her father-in-law trailing Vice President Kamala Harris by just one point, The Hill reports.
She said this comes “despite the fact that Harris has had this incredible media honeymoon and halo effect around her.”
“So, something we are doing is working,” Lara said. “Look at our convention and tell me if you think that we have done a good job as co-chair and chair with Michael Whatley of the RNC since we took over in March, I think the proof will be in the pudding. I think I’ll let them talk to me on November 5, whenever we plan to have a huge win for Donald Trump.”
The ex-POTUS has seen his sizable lead in the polls evaporate with the entry of Harris into the campaign.
The vice president had 3.8 percentage points more support than the former president (49.5 to 45.7 percent) in an average of national surveys from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ.
Lara Trump's previous musical projects
Lara Trump has previously dabbled in musical endeavors. Her rendition of Tom Petty's 1989 hit song 'I Won't Back Down' was released last year. She also released the song 'Anything is Possible' earlier this year, ostensibly responding to her "fans in the liberal media" and promising to release more songs in the future.
Lara Trump ridiculed for defending her new song
Netizens scorned Trump's daughter-in-law after she hit out at the critics for speaking against her new song 'Hero'. One X user tweeted, "I want to know how much she cost donors for that garbage vanity stunt."
Another added, "I can knock you for grifting yourself into a 'singing career' that literally makes ones ears bleed."
"No. But we can knock her for being a criminally bad singer," remarked one, while someone else wrote, "Then it's legitimate to ask just how much money her singing has raised for the RNC."
"They CAN knock you for being a co-grifter," said a user.
